Plates/text covers religious festivals, games, pastimes and domestic life to the Imperial and Shogunal systems, criminal justice and the Takaido, and also touches on Japanese characteristics. Day & Sons lithographic plates were of such superior technical quality that the firm was granted a Royal Warrant

Brooks and applause for the Mudford Troop of Yeomanry Cavalry, 245mm, body and base cracked* Following rejection of the Second Reform Bill by the House of Lords on 8th October riots ensued in many provincial towns and cities. Notable was Yeovil where the houses of a number of local dignitaries were sacked.
