Regency cannetile gold pendant necklace, the pendant in the form of a latin cross, set with foil backed pink topaz, emerald and pearls, with gold beehive and scrolls, gem set clasp and two further rosettes on a fine nine strand chain, circa 1820, in fitted case. The following lots 100-142 and 528-554 are from one family's collection, going back possibly seven generations. After years of safekeeping in a bank vault and not seen since the 1960's, the vendor a lady from Cobham in Surrey, along with her brother, felt that the time had come for them to be enjoyed by a new generation of collectors. Much of the jewellery came from her grandmother, a lady who married four times and was sadly widowed three times, all men from the same Regiment, formerly known as the KingÉs Own Regiment, then subsequently the Royal Lancasters. Her forth husband presented her with the lovely amethyst girandole pendant, he had been a suitor when she was a young girl of 18, but she had turned him down, she finally married him aged 81.Further back to the 18th and early 19th century there are more poignant reminders of family loss, including memorial rings and a locket containing the last words of a daughter of the family, Georgina. One pair of gold cufflinks give evidence of the family's regimental ties, and another extremely rare Georgian period pair are painted with miniature landscapes. The collection includes silver and pocket watches, an interesting group of items that represent some of the familyÉs history.Regency cannetile gold pendant necklace, the pendant in the form of a latin cross, set with foil backed pink topaz, emerald and pearls, with gold beehive and scrolls, gem set clasp and two further rosettes on a fine nine strand chain, circa 1820, in fitted case
