A well carved Meerschaum pipe depicting Prince Albert by Edwin & William Barling the silver mount hallmarked London 1891, with later clear lucite mouthpiece, in the original Barling's maroon morocco case, the pipe head 3 x 2¾in. (7.6 x 7cm.). *Good condition - clear hallmarks to silver, replaced mouthpiece. The pipe head in good condition, with a tiny moulding imperfection line to the left side of the collar. Top of head slightly darkened from use and some lighter patches to the sides of the pipe head from handling. No other damage or faults. The case in very good condition.

A small group of silver mounted travelling icons including a 19th century Russian icon, the oklad with assay mark for Eduard Fyodorovich Brandenburg, St Petersburg 1861, tempera on wood panel, 5 3/8 x 4 3/8in. (13.5 x 11cm.); another of St George, probably Greek, unmarked, 3 7/8 x 2 7/8in. (9.8 x 7.3cm.); a small enamelled silver framed icon, stamped '84', 3 5/8 x 3 3/8in. (9.2 x 8.5cm.); and a small Russian icon, tondo, depicting the Madonna, Kokoshnik and maker's mark only, engraved with the date 1915 verso, 2 5/8in. (6.7cm.) square. (4) *The oklad on the larger icon is loose, with some creases and small splits/tiny losses to the edges. Heavy surface dirt to the paint and a number of large flakes missing from the paint, plus some retouches visible under UV. The enamelled icon frame can be partially detached and the enamelled slip is detached from the outer frame. The small tondo icon has heavy cracquelure and two flakes missing from the paint.

A set of the Eight Daoist Immortals carved in Chinese hardwood probably 19th century, the robes of each finely inlaid in silver wire with Oriental symbols of Good Fortune, each standing approximately 13½in. (34.5cm.) high, two with chips and one with a split down the abdomen. (8) *Figure 1) Chips to headband, whiskers and instrument over left shoulder. 2) 'Han Xianzi' Tiny chips to nose, chin and costume. 3) 'Li Tieguai' Small chips to hands, piece mising on instrument over r/h shoulder. 4) 'Lan Caino' Body length split in wood, small chip to edge of costume, split to head and right arm, small base cracks. 5) 'Lu Dongbin' Large chip to hat, piece missing from knife hilt over l/h shoulder. 6) 'He Xiangu' Tiny chip to costume. 7) 'Zhang Guolao' Stained chip to sheath over l/h shoulder, tiny chip to rear of costume. 8) 'Gao Guojio' Two possible re- stained chips to base.

Lot 934

A jewelled silver model of a Kingfisher, probably Russian first half 20th century, unmarked, the bird perched upon a silver tree branch, gripping the branch with its plated brass feet, its wings raised and beak open in readiness to take flight, with amber glass eyes, the head, body and wings encrusted with a multitude of synthetic gemstones simulating rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds, on a later mahogany base, overall height 5½in. (14cm.), the figure 4½in. (11.5cm.) high. *Believed to have possibly been part of a larger model, possibly of a tree with multiple birds. In good condition overall, with no losses or replacements to the 'stones' and no chips or damage noted. Some wear to the plating on the feet. The bird is slightly loose on its mounting to the branch and moves a little.

De Lamerie of London, presentation dagger with silver blade, London assay mark, in a green tooled leather presentation case inscribed "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Ahmed Zaki Yamani December 25th 1990", knife 11in. (27.9cm.) long. Provenance: From a collection of gifts to a friend of Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani (1930-2021). * For over two decades as petroleum minister for Saudi Arabia (1962-1986), Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani was arguably one of the most famous and powerful men on earth. He was a minister in OPEC (Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) and is remembered for his role during the 1973 oil crisis when he encouraged OPEC to quadruple the price of crude oil. In December 1975 Yamani was taken hostage in Vienna with the other OPEC ministers by the infamous terrorist Carlos the Jackal. The hostages were flown across North Africa before being released two days later. Carlos spared the life of Yamani and his Iranian counterpart despite having been ordered to execute them. Yamani's negotiation style, according to Henry Kissinger, was to wine and dine other dignitaries until the point of fullness and lethargy, before beginning protracted negotiations.

A rare Japanese silver articulated model of a Crayfish Meiji period, nicely modelled fully articulated with moving legs, antennae and tail, the base signed Japanese (Hiromi) and ‘Jungin’ pure silver (950+ high grade), full length 9¾ in. (24.8cm.), weight 1.5 tr.oz. *Fully articulated, very good.

A New Hall porcelain teapot late 18th century, the silver-shape teapot with painted pattern no. '52' to base, with a matching cream jug, painted with floral sprays; together with another New Hall cream jug and slop bowl with floral sprig decoration; and five New Hall tea cups and saucers, painted with similar floral sprigged decoration. (14) *Large crack around base of teapot. One saucer with hairline to base and one cup with a small firing crack to the rim. No other faults.

Lot 419

A pair of French Empire silver gilt urn salts maker's mark for Jean-Baptiste Simon Lefranc (act. 1798-1809), Paris and Objets de Hasard marks, the urns with lappet rim and anthemion, scroll and husk basal bands, on square pedestal bases with foliate paw feet, with clear glass liners, 9.2cm. high, silver weight 10.3 tr.oz.; together with a pair of French silver gilt open salts, rectangular boat form with gadrooned rim and anthemion scroll bracket feet, engraved monograms, Paris 1819-1838 vieillard and guarantie marks, maker's mark probably GT in a lozenge, 4.7cm. high, weight 7.62 tr.oz. (4) *Slight dent to rim of both urn salts. Otherwise good, slight wear to gilt. The boat salts are both in good condition, but with rubbing to gilt to belly of body and to gadrooning on rims. Maker's marks beneath the rim both partially struck, although they clearly match and one of the two initials can be seen on both. No liners.

A pair of Gorham sterling silver candlesticks 1920s-30s, in the Art Deco taste, of slightly tapered, octagonal columnar form, the reeded urn shaped nozzles with detachable drip pans, on half reeded navette shaped bases, crested, 10¼in. (26cm.) high, probably weighted, gross weight 34.15 tr.oz., faults. (2) *One with dents to drip pan. The other has been dropped, with a bent column, with dents and creasing to nozzle - the drip pan is also dented and the socket is detached from the candlestick and attached to the drip pan lug.
