A Pair of George III Silver Twin-Handled Sauce Tureens and Covers, Robert Hennell, London 1783, oval with bead borders on pedestal foot, with all over ermine style decoration, bright engraved borders and reserves, engraved with a crest of a lion's gamb, out of a coronet, holding ostrich feathers, 23cm wide, over handles, 32.5ozt (2). Clear marks to underside of foot, covers part marked with makers mark and lion passant. Repair to junctions of handles on one example. No apparent erasures or thinning. Cover to one example not sitting in properly and one finial leaning slightly.

An Edwardian Scottish Silver Tankard of William and Mary Style, Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh 1904, plain with scroll thumbpiece, the S shaped handle with heart terminal, the flat cover engraved with a crest of a hand holding a lance and motto scroll for Younger, the front with presentation inscription Harry George Younger, from his father 1st October 1904, 19cm high, 29.5ozt Marks to left of handle with some light wear, interior of cover fully marked and crisp. Two or three knocks to foot rim, some small dents to the body, and one to cover. Pin to hinge protruding from one side and in need to re-securing.

A Pair of Early George III Cast Silver Candlesticks, Elizabeth Cooke, London 1764, with wrythen foliate embellished knopped stem, shaped square base and with gadroon borders, detachable sconces, the base engraved with a crest of a horse passant, 27cm high, 44.9ozt (2). Fully marked underneath, the sockets with maker's mark only. One nozzle with maker's mark and lion passant, the other with lion passant only. The marks underneath are very clear, the other marks have wear, most obvious to the lion passant on the nozzles. There is some overall surface scratching and wear consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points.

A George V Silver Inkstand, Thomas Bradbury & Sons, Sheffield 1926, rounded rectangular with gadroon border, reeded foliate twin handles and on foliate bracket feet, two detachable cut glass wells, a pen depression to each side, 29.5cm wide over handles, 19.5ozt. Clear marks to underside, mounts to inkwells, receivers and nuts to underside all part marked. One or two very minor scratches and flea bites to glass. Generally in good condition.

A Victorian Silver Five Piece Tea and Coffee Service, Elkington & Co, Birmingham 1873, oval with bead borders, elaborate engraved borders and vacant oval reserves, the coffee pot 22.5cm high, 75.7ozt (5). All clearly marked to underside of base, covers and handles part marked. Ivory insulators and finials. Engraving crisp, no signs of any erasures or thinning. Bruise to one side of the teapot and some knocks to the coffee pot in one area and the handle of the coffee pot. Pin to lower end of coffee pot lacking.

Lot 161

A George V Silver Centrepiece Epergne, Charles Stuart Harris & Sons, London 1911, of elaborate design in the 18th Century taste, with a central detachable bowl, and four arms supporting four smaller swing handled baskets of matching design, the oval base on pierced rococo scroll supports, 26.5cm high, 47cm wide, 73.2ozt. Marked on base, central bowl, baskets and branches. The marks are generally clear though there is wear to the maker's mark on some pieces. Appears to be in overall good condition with some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is a split to the top of the handle on one basket and some repairs to the tops of the handles on some other baskets.

A George V Silver Kettle on Stand, John & William Deakin, Sheffield 1911, with gadroon and shell border, foliate handle and part fluted body, the stand with four openwork scroll supports and detachable silver spirit burner, 46.6ozt, 31cm high . Marked to side of body, the cover, wing nut, stand, pins and burner all part marked. No inscriptions or engraving and no signs of any erasures. Generally good order.

An Early George III Silver Pedestal Coffee Pot, Jacob Marsh or John Moore (Grimwade unregistered 3658), London 1769, pear shaped with gadroon borders, the body later decorated with scrolling foliage, flowers, a farmyard scene with a cow, a deer and a lion rampant crest within a rococo reserve, 30cm high, 29.3ozt . Fully marked underneath and inside cover with lion passant only. The marks are generally clear. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There has been some repairs to the rim, most obvious at the top handle junction. The wood handle is a replacement. There is a further repair to one side to an area which has been erased and is consequently thin. There are minor pin dents to the body.

A Pair of Early Victorian Silver Dishes and Covers of North East Interest, John Edward Terry, London 1845, the oval dish with scroll and foliate rim, the domed cover with shell and foliate loop handle, engraved to one side Presented to John Tinley Esq North Shields, by his Fellow Townsmen and Friends In Testimony of their Respect and Esteem 1845 and further inscribed to the other side G.A.Tinley to his Brother R.J.Tinley, 7th Decr 1864, the dishes 36cm wide, 149ozt (4). All sections fully marked, most marks clear although some rubbing to the part marks on the handles. Plenty of knife marks to dishes and general wear. Engraving all appears clear. One handle pushed backwards off the vertical slightly. Occasional bruise to covers.

Lot 167

A George IV Irish Silver Teapot and Jug, James Scott, Dublin 1822/25, the teapot also marked for Alderman Jacob West, part fluted and decorated with a band of scrolling roses, thistles and shamrocks, gadroon and foliate borders, and on lion paw feet, the teapot 29.5cm long, 38.5ozt (2). Each piece is fully marked underneath. The teapot is further marked inside cover and on handle. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points of the decoration. There has been a repair to the fluting on the teapot, this is visible from the inside. The handle is missing its insulators and the cover is pushed slightly down and there is a bruise to the handle.

A George II/III Irish Silver Twin-Handled Cup, Michael Fowler, Dublin, no date letter, circa 1760, with central girdle, the body chased and engraved with C scrolls flowers and foliage, a vacant reserve to each side, gilt interior, 18cm high, 25.5cm wide over handles, 29.5ozt. Marked to rim beside one handle, all three marks somewhat rubbed. Signs of repair to lower junction of one handle, scratch weight 31=19 to underside. Gilt interior is a little pale and the cup is leaning very slightly to one side. The decoration is probably later.

A George II Silver Mug, Richard Gurney & Thomas Cook, London 1736, baluster form on spreading foot, later chased and engraved with roses, other flowers and foliage on a matted ground, a vacant cartouche to the front, initials and date WT 1737 and an indistinct inscription dated 1739 to underside of base, 11.5cm high, 11.4ozt . Fully marked underneath. The marks are generally clear. The chased and engraved decoration has been added later.

A George III Provincial Silver Tankard, John Langlands, Newcastle 1774, with reeded girdle and tucked in base, on circular foot, the domed hinged cover with openwork thumbpiece, the scroll handle with heart shaped terminal, engraved with initials to the front, 20cm high, 27.5ozt . Marks all generally clear to underside of base, cover part marked with lion passant, handle with makers mark. A little sideways play in the cover hinge and some evidence of solder repair. Bottom point of heart terminal bent upwards. Initials appear probably of the period or slightly after and no signs of thinning. Some small occasional knocks and bruises.

A George II Silver Mazarine, Paul de Lamerie, London 1745, oval, pierced and engraved with shells and scrolls, the centre coat of arms and motto scroll, inscribed No1 and scratch weight 27=9 to underside, 44.5cm wide, 27oz 6dwt The arms are those of Duncombe impaling Campbell, probably for Octavius Duncombe (1817-1879) and his wife Lady Caroline Campbell, who were married in 1842. Provenance: Possibly Christie's, Myles Place Salisbury, 25-26 Oct 1992, Lot 589 For a cup and cover, by de Lamerie, bearing the same arms see Christie's London, Centuries of Style, 10 June 2011, Lot 293 . Marks struck to underside, all with some wear, the date letter partially obscured. Some splits between the tips of the shell design and its surround on left hand side. One further small split in the same place on the shell at the other end. Some small bruises and undulation around rim. The engraved arms are later.

Some pieces have been erased and there are some differences to the pattern and engraving. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, the wear is noticeable as a very minor softening to the high points of decoration on some pieces. There is some minor wear and bruising to the tines on some of the forks.

The handle is apparently unmarked and is probably a later replacement. In generally good condition with some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. The ivory insulators on the handle have some cracking and discolouration.

A William IV Silver Teapot, Charles Fox, London 1830, squat circular melon fluted form with foliate embellishments, the hinged cover with melon finial, on shell bracket feet, 31cm long, 25.8ozt . Clear marks to underside, the handle, cover, finial and wing nut all part marked. Pin to upper junction of handle lacking and repair of both handle junctions. Ivory insulators. Some small sideways play in the cover and some light bruising to body. There is an uneven area on one side, perhaps the result of an erasure.

Marked to rim, marks all generally clear, handle part marked. Break to handle near one hinge, and signs of an old repair beside. Some very light surface scratching.

A George II Silver Coffee Pot, marks rubbed, London, circa 1755, tapering form with tucked in base, chased with flowerheads, a C scroll reserve to either side, one crested, 25cm high, 26.6ozt . Marked to right of handle, no makers mark visible, all three marks very worn, cover appears unmarked. Some knocks to the lower body at widest point and a bruise below the vacant reserve. Pin from lower junction of handle lacking. The chased decoration is later.

An American Aesthetic Silver and Mixed Metal Vase, Whiting Mfg Co, New York, last quarter 19th century, oval section with planished finish, decorated in the Japanese taste with blossoming prunus to one side and flowering foliage to the other, raised on four outswept feet, 18.5cm high, 9oz 14dwt. Stamped underneath with makers mark, further stamped 'Sterling' and numbered '926A'. Vase is leaning slightly backwards, the feet would benefit from some re-straightening. Some wear to the decoration on the high points and some polish residue deposited within decoration.

There has been some repairs to the tail feathers of one and some bruising to the other. The feet on both have some bruises so are slightly unstable when resting on a flat surface.

A George IV Scottish Silver Salver, Adam Elder, Edinburgh 1827, also marked CM possibly for Charles Murray, Perth, circular with a flowerhead, scroll and shell border, the centre engraved with crest and motto Stand Fast for Grant, within flat chased decoration, on three foliate bracket feet, 23.5cm diameter, 17.4ozt. Fully marked underneath. The marks are clear. There is some overall minor surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a very minor softening to the high points of the border. There are some minor pin dents.

A Large Late Victorian Scottish Silver Sideboard Dish or Charger, David & George Edward, Glasgow 1898, of Renaissance revival, the domed centre within multiple borders of stylised foliage, urns, scrolling foliage and flowerheads, the elaborate rim decorated alternating masks of ancient gods, griffin, dragon and other stylised beast and bird heads and scrolling strapwork, 56cm diameter, 115.2ozt. The marks are clear. Further stamped underneath 'Edward and Sons Glasgow'. There is some very minor surface scratching and wear and some very minor bruises. The surface in the centre is somewhat bright.

A George III Silver Swing-Handled Cake Basket, William Plummer, London 1765, oval with foliate rim, the sides pierced with alternating patterns, on pierced foot with ropework borders, the centre engraved with a coat of arms for Swinton, likely for The Hon John Swinton, Lord Swinton (1723-1799) of Swinton, Berwickshire, 33cm wide, 27.8ozt. Marks all generally clear to side of basket. The handle marked with lion passant. Four large repairs/patches to the piercing on the sides of the basket as well as some further breaks and losses to the piercing. Some light knocks and scratching to centre. There is some wear which is noticeable as a softening to the decoration.

An Edwardian Silver and Tortoiseshell Jewellery Box, Mappin & Webb, Birmingham 1909, rectangular with reed and ribbon border, silver inlaid tortoiseshell hinged cover, and on four ball and claw feet, velvet lined interior, 18.5cm wide . Fully marked on bezel, the cover part marked. There is some wear to the marks but they are still legible. There are some minor scratches overall. There is one small area where the silver inlay on the tortoiseshell cover is becoming detached. The velvet lining is somewhat faded and worn.

A William & Mary Provincial Silver Twin-Handled Wine Taster or Bowl, George Gibson, York 1677, the body chased and engraved with tulips, twin ropework handles and on three ball feet, engraved with initials RPE to the rim, 13cm wide over handles, 2.4ozt . Marked to underside, York town mark and date letter both partly rubbed but still legible, the maker's mark more heavily worn. Some wear to the high points of the decoration and occasional small knock. Feet very slightly pushed in.

The marks are clear. In generally good condition with only some very minor scratching.

In generally overall good condition. The resin handled knives in good condition though with some scuffing to the cardboard boxes. The soup-ladles are actually sauce ladles.

Clear marks to underside of base. Cover part marked including makers mark, wing nut and handle part marked. Ivory insulators. Small repair to right hand side of spout. Occasional small knock at widest point. Stands straight.

Marked to right of handle, most marks clear but all with some wear, cover unmarked. Body erased and 20th Cenutry crest of lion rampant in its place, body is quite thin in this area. Some light bruises to body.

There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. There are some minor pin dents and some minor bruises to the handle and handle junctions. The ivory insulators are somewhat cracked and discoloured and slightly ill-fitting.

A Chinese Export Silver Four Piece Tea Service, maker's mark KH, Hong Kong, 1st half 20th century, of oval form, decorated in relief with a trailing dragon, the covers engraved with a further dragon, the teapot 25.5cm long, 33.5ozt (4) . The marks underneath are clear. There are some minor surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. In generally good condition otherwise. The finial on the sugar bowl is pushed slightly into the cover and leans slightly.

A Victorian Aesthetic Movement Silver Coffee Pot, Edward Charles Brown, London 1880, the cylindrical tapering neck with multiple engraved borders, above an ovoid body engraved with birds, flowers, branches and butterflies in the typical Japanese taste, a monogram to one side and a crest of a hare courant and the motto scroll Spes Vincit Thronum for Winthrop to the other, bamboo moulded spout and handle, 25.5cm high, 23.2ozt . Clear marks to underside, cover and handle part marked. Ivory insulators. The pot is leaning to one side slightly, foot would benefit from straightening. Some bruising around the crest but no erasures or thinning. Handle with a little plat. Hinge to cover in good order.

A Multi-Gemstone Bead Necklace, cultured pearls spaced by chrome diopside, obsidian, red and purple garnet, emerald, pink opal, black spinel and peridot beads, length 224cm see illustration. The necklace is in good condition. It fastens with a lobster claw clasp and the length given is the shortest wearing length. Clasp is stamped '925' and in our opinion would test as silver. Gross weight 86.5 grams. CR made 04.06.19.

An Art Nouveau Diamond and Pearl Set Brooch/Pendant, a pearl centres an old cut diamond set cluster, with diamond set scrollwork surround and a pendant base, total estimated diamond weight 1.00 carat approximately, measures 3cm by 5.6cm see illustration . The brooch is in good condition. It fastens with a pin and revolver catch, the fitting unscrews for removal. It also has a detachable pendant loop. It bears no hallmark, nor stamps, but in our opinion it would test as silver and gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity I1/I2/I3. Gross weight 8.6 grams. CR made 29th May 2019.

A Late 19th Century Diamond Brooch, old cut diamonds create a floral centre within a swirling foliate motif, in claw and collet settings, total estimated diamond weight 2.60 carat approximately, measures 3.8cm by 5.1cm, with optional pendant fitting see illustration NB one diamond deficient. The brooch is in good condition, other than the missing diamond. It fastens with a detachable pin and visor fitting, and features a safety chain. It bears no hallmark, nor stamps, but in our opinion it would test as silver and gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I/J, clarity SI1/SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 18.3 grams. CR made 29th May 2019.

An Amethyst, Diamond and Emerald Brooch, an oval mixed cut amethyst centres a floral design, pavé set throughout with round brilliant cut diamonds, with step cut and calibré cut emerald accents, total estimated diamond weight 2.80 carat approximately, measures 4.5cm by 6cm see illustration.  The brooch is in good condition. It fastens with a pin and visor catch and features a safety chain, that is missing it's end piece - the catch - and so requires repair. It is stamped '18CT' and 'PLAT' under the pin and in our opinion would test as gold and silver. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I/J, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. An Emerald and Cultured Pearl Necklace, faceted emerald roundel beads spaced by cultured pearls, length 85cm see illustration. The necklace is in good condition. It fastens with a lobster claw clasp and the length given is the shortest wearing length. The clasp is stamped '925' and in our opinion would test as silver. The emerald roundel beads measure 2.28mm to 3.96mm in diameter approximately. The pearls measure 8.49mm to 9.88mm in diameter approximately. Gross weight 52.9 grams. CR made 03.06.19.
