A cased 5 shot 80 bore Cooper’s patent self cocking ring trigger underhammer percussion pepperbox revolver, 7½” overall, barrels 3½” with engraved border around the muzzles (faint); Birmingham proved; with scroll engraved German silver frame and butt strap, top of the frame engraved “J R Coopers Patent”; with unusual sliding safety catch which locks the barrels, and plain varnished walnut grips. Good Working Order and Condition (patches of dark stain to barrels, minor flaws); in its purple velvet lined fitted mahogany case with brass lid escutcheon, containing a turned wood cylindrical box for caps, and a brass cleaning rod. A Victorian officer’s silver mounted shoulder belt and pouch of the 13th Hussars, gilt lace belt, with buff central stripe on buff leather backing, 6 gilt on silver battle honour scrolls “Peninsula” to “Sevastopol”, silver prickers and chains, buckle, tip and slide, all with ornamental engraved borders and Hallmarked B&P Birmingham 1880,black leather pouch with embroidered top solid silver flap with engraved foliate border bearing gilt VR cypher (gilt rubbed) and Hallmarked B&P, Birmingham 1899; with an unusual flap buttoned on to the inside of the belt to protect the wearer’s uniform from the numerous nuts and bolts securing the ornaments. A rare French made 10 shot 2 barrelled Le Mat single action percussion revolver, having a cylinder of 9 chambers of approximately 65 bore and a centrally mounted smooth bore barrel of approximately 16 bore, 11½” overall, barrels 5”, the upper octagonal rifled barrel having a tall fore sight, and engraved in gothic script “Systeme Le Mat Bte. s.g.d.g.” (the last letter partly obliterated by the fore sight); with lever type rammer on the right side for the cylinder chambers only; plain frame and cylinder, unmarked apart from the serial number, hammer with hinged striker to fire the upper or lower barrels; the grips and domed butt cap of unmarked silver nielloed in the Balkan fashion, grips with flowers and foliage and stylised birds, butt cap with a radiating spiral pattern. Good Working Order and Condition (steel parts lightly worn and polished, some score marks and light bruising to the barrels). Plate 28

A pair of silver mounted brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss pistols, by Bunney, c 1775, 13½” overall, slender 2 stage bell mouth barrels 8” with octagonal breeches, struck with London and maker’s proofs, top flats engraved with foliate scrolls and “Holborn London”, flat locks with wide safety bolts and swan neck cocks, plate engraved with dog tooth border and “Bunney” in foliate panel; walnut fullstocks with flared butt and teardrop carving behind locks and sideplates, and inlaid with silver wire scrolls, shell pattern around and behind the breech tangs; unmarked silver mounts include grotesque mask butt caps, escutcheons with cannon, trophies and helmet sideplates with castile cannon and trophy of flags, and flower engraved trigger guards with acorn finials; with horn tipped ramrods.
