A Georgian presentation sword, the blade deeply etched for its full length with royal cypher, crest and martial trophies, the presentation inscription includes 'Presented by the Non Commissioned Officers and Privates of the ....... Gladium Qui Merait Ferat' and with traces of blued and gilt decoration. The hilt and scabbard retain some original fire gilding, the ivory grip with silver wire binding. The inscription, which is tantalisingly indistinct, might repay very careful examination
