Extremely Rare and Possibly Unique Standard Bearers Shoulder Belt Plate 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot circa 1814, oval unmarked silver shoulder belt plate with laurels border with cut out central garter having battle honours for GIBRALTAR – PENINSULA – VITTORIA – ALBUERA. Inside the garter is XXXIX Gibraltar castle with key below. Reverse of the plate is fitted with a single loop, this is a latter addition and clear evidence remains of where a pin and catch fixing would have originally been present. Item remains in very good overall condition and is extremely rare.

Laurel wreath with Victorian crown and garter to the centre having the motto Honi Soit Qui Maly Pense and cut out 54 to the inside. Bottom is fitted with silver Sphinx with MARABOUT. Accompanying the shako plate is a brass other ranks glengarry badge also for the 54th regiment of foot, with two lugs on the reverse. Both badges remain in generally good condition. (2 items)

Early Crimean War Period Victorian Officers Forage Cap of dark blue cloth with thick gold lace band of acorns and oak leaves. Peak has thick band of bullion wire. Top of the cap has bullion wire button. Interior of the cap has quilted lining with Hawkes & Co makers details. Leather sweatband which appears to have been re-attached at one time. The cap does suffer with some moth damage and stitching faults. Accompanied by a Victorian volunteer officers pill box cap with thick silver wire band to the centre, silver wire piping to the welt of the crown and silver wire decoration to the top with bullion button. Interior has Hawkes & Co makers details and leather sweatband. This cap also suffers with moth damage and stitching faults. (2 items)
