Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Tlw. Kratzspuren. 8,5 cm, 1 x rice bowl d: approx. 12 cm, 2 x bowls d: each approx. 18,5 cm, 1 x large bowl d: approx. 23,5 cm , marked with 935 silver, two Chinese hallmarks (unresolved), makers mark ('Teh Ling'), weight approx. 6690 g. Signs of age and use. Partly scratches. The bowls captivate by their solid construction and the abundant use of high-alloyed silver. A rarity. This is a silver manufactory that has unfortunately fallen into oblivion and is known only to a select circle of collectors. The Teh Ling silver manufactory in Beijing (Peiping) was very popular among the marines stationed there who served in the American legation before and after the Second World War. This was partly because the shop was in close proximity to the Legation Quarter, which housed the diplomatic community and the guard forces protecting them. Formerly known as Morrison Street and now Wanfutin, this is Beijing's main shopping street.Teh Ling's central location in this district and his production of high quality silverware made him a popular dealer for diplomats and soladates. Teh Ling's silverwork is mostly alloyed with 935 silver, a rare quality feature. According to the consignor, the bowls were commissioned between 1942 and 1946 by a family member of the previous generation.
