An Unusual Edwardian Silver Arts & Crafts Ewer, by W.S. Benson, London 1910:Cover part marked, body and base stamped with maker's mark only, (apparently marked to inside of ewer), of plain tapering form with loop handle, the pointed domed cover applied with a rivet and scroll thumb-piece, interior fitted with an enamel liner, engraved with a crest on the body. (The vendor of this lot recently took the base off and carried out his own research for the rest of the hallmark. During this inspection he discovered the rest of the hallmark, this is stamped on the inside of ewer and not visible to the eye). CONDITION REPORT: Overall condition good. The part mark that is visible is clear.
A George III Silver Tankard, London 1761:maker's mark 'SW', possibly by Samuel Whitford (I), plain tapering form with applied reeded girdle and domed hinged cover, engraved with script initials, approx troy weight 32oz CONDITION REPORT: Generally good as is the colour. Sit flush on a flat surface. Placement of hallmarks: one set to the side of the handle and the other to inside of domed cover. Both sets good. There are fine surface scratches to surface. The thum-bpiece has possibly had an old repair as the silver solder is visible as is the crease to inside of hinge.
A George III Silver Tankard, London 1763:by William Crisp, of conventional baluster form with reeded girdle and domed cover, handle engraved "W", approx troy weight 22oz. CONDITION REPORT: The overall colour and condition good, however the front possibly has been erased as there is the slightest of dips in the surface. The body has very minor dents. The thumb-piece, requires attention as this is now bent back, Sits flush on a flat surface.The Hallmarks :- one set is underneath and the other to inside of cover, both sets are clear.

Prince of Wales interest:A silver and enamel beaker, by Simon Benney, London 2006, of near tumbler form, decorated with a translucent blue enamel above a plain black enamel band, engraved with presentation inscription "For Hans (sic), with profound gratitude for your remarkable generosity and helping to save a unique house for the nation, Charles June 2007", opposite side engraved with Prince of Wales Feathers.The Prince of Wales and a consortium endeavoured to save for the nation, Dumfries House, in Ayrshire. The Palladian House contains one of the most important collections of Chippendale furniture and works of art. After considerable fund raising the house was saved. Although there is no reference of this house in the inscription, it is probable that the house mentioned is the house in question.
