A mid 17th C needlework box , embroidered in silk and silvered thread Formal decoration of flowers, fruit , scrolling leaves and tendrils , worked in silk stiitch and couched silver thread on yellow silk ground . lined in red silk and set on four carved and gilt enriched feet ( probably later addition ) PROVENANCE; From a collection formerly kept at Hampton Court Palace 8¼ x 19.70 x 13.80in. (20 x 50 x 35cm) A few solvered threads are loose, but over 90% of decoration is intact . The top is faded and discoloured although quite a lot of this appears to be dust and is easily removed. Colours are brighter on sides.Trim loose in places but largely present . One foot detached .
