Large and impressive Victorian silver oil lamp base, in the form of a Corinthian column, with fluted shaft and a pedestal, with applied laurel wreaths, engraved presentation inscription, Roman figure ten and a Sphinx (Sphinx badge was originally awarded to British Regiments, that took part in the Egyptian Campaign of 1801 against Napoleon). Reservoir now open and with electrical fitting. (London 1895). Maker's mark rubbed. Overall height including light fitting 70cm.
