A pair of silver serving dishes, Joachim Hasselgren, St Petersburg, third quarter 18th century circular, the rims cast with acanthus-bound reeds, the scroll handles with a scallop shell, the sides applied with a chased double armorial, the arms on the left those of Lazarev, 84 standard, with post-1893 French import marks (2) diameter: 22.5cm, 8.75in Hasselgren was born in Sweden and came to study in St Petersburg in 1761. He joined the foreign silvermiths guild in 1766 and became its head in 1787. His best-known works are the gold-mounted goblet and flask with the monogram of Empress Catherine II in the gallery of precious objects in the Hermitage.
