Beautiful, partially gilt silver hilt with bas-relieved decorations, at the shell-guard the fleur-de-lis held by two cherubs, more gilt fleurs-de-lis at the quillon-block, guard, grip and pommel, at the rear surface of the grip a long cross with lance and flag. Certainly manufactured for a member of the royal family. In "Gli ultimi Borboni di Napoli" by Harold Acton (1825-1861), A. Martello ed. Milano 1962, on page 605 we can read of Maria Sophie of Wittelsbach, Queen of Naples: "...Maria Sophie was now the heroine of Gaeta, a legendary figure whose portrait had been published in the entire Europe....; ladies in Paris gifted her a Honour Sword...etc"Considering the heraldic and allegoric references on the sword offered and its family of provenance, even if we can`t be certain, we are very likely to think that the sword consists in the gift offered by the Parisian ladies.dimensions: length 95.5 cm.
