A WWI First World War RAF Royal Air Force Distinguished Flying Medal awarded to one 233777 Sergeant Mechanic Arthur Henry Banks. Banks was born in 1899 and enlisted in the RNAS Royal Naval Air Service in 1917 before transferring to the RAF 110 Squadron (Bombing Squadron) aged 20.The silver oval medal obverse shows the effigy and titles of the reigning sovereign (George V) and the reverse features Athena seated on an aeroplane and a hawk rising from her right arm. Heavily pitted. With some associated printed research.
