dating: 19th Century provenance: India, Nice, iron, smooth barrel of round section, richly chiselled at the base and with gilded badges, portraying a deity and another person, these two figure surrounded by a dense rinceaux weave and effigy of a lion beneath. Above the persons a double moulding bearing remains of gold inlays with inscriptions, then a second floral decoration, gilded as well, in bass-relief. Central part of the barrel crossed on the sides with gilded frames and with three, longitudinal raisers on the back. Nozzle with rich, gilded floral decorations in bass-relief, which resume decorations at the base. Fore-sight is missing, parallelepiped-shaped, gilded sight. Pan on the right side, gilded and complete with turning pan cover. Light wooden, full stock, covered in the central part with silver foils decorated with rinceaux bands and frames. Butt of the square shape with silver mounts on the bottom as well, decorated with rinceaux frames. In the front part of the stock another two, silver plaques. Leather barrel brackets (two are frayed). Iron trigger inlaid en suite with the barrel, in working order, serpentine as well, partially gilded. Iron ramrod, gilded en suite with the barrel. length 152 cm.
