A VICTORIAN SILVER VINAIGRETTE, by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham, date letter indistinct, shaped rectangular, the cover engraved with a fisherman and another figure on the riverbanks, a boat beyond, the underside with engine-turned decoration and engraved with initials to a cartouche. 4cm by 3.3cmCONDITION REPORTThe hallmarks to the base section are rubbed. The hallmarks to the cover are clear and well struck. The hinge is in excellent order and the grill closes flush. The hinge to the cover is also in good order and the vinaigrette closes neatly and tightly. To one corner is a pin prick size hole.

Trophy 27cm high, 22.9 troy ouncesThe engraving reads: Presented by Sir George Orby Wombwell Bart. To Mr Robert Wedgewood For the best managed Farm on the Newburgh Estates in the Year 1862 for less than 150 acres. As awarded by the Judges Mess'rs Jordan Appleyard & Pearson 19th August 1862.Note: Sir George Orby Wombwell was one of the youngest officers to take part in the famous Charge of the Light Brigade, where under rank of "Cornet" he was aide-de-camp to Lord Cardigan. Sir George retired as lieutenant in 1855, when he inherited his title and estate, Newburgh Priory in Coxwold, North Yorkshire, on the death of his father. He presented this trophy to one of his tenant farmers in his capacity of Lord of the Manor. AN ART NOUVEAU SILVER-MOUNTED DRESSING TABLE SET, various marks, c.1900-1905, comprising four brushes, hand-mirror and comb, each decorated in relief with peacocks and stylised foliage, in a fitted box.CONDITION REPORTAlthough this set faces up very well on closer inspection there are a number of dents small splits and a couple of repairs. The marks generally are rubbed but legible. The comb lacks some prongs. The case is in good condition. This is a very attractive set but unfortunately there are some condition issues.
