(2) Condition Report: Sandwich box: marks are good the hinged side and cover are part marked, gauge is good, the hinges are good and cover closes flush, pale gilt interior has some wear, overall some surface scratches. Bottle: the mount is marks only 'Made in England' and 'Swaine & Brigg London', bayonet fitting cover is fitted with a cork, gilt interior has wear, cover closes flush, neck is good, body is good, overall stains to the case and the straps are worn/damaged.

Purchased from Julian Pawle Limited, New Bond Street, London 7 February 1991. Condition Report: Marks are good, gauge is a little light, details of the decoration are good, a shallow dent in near the button and the bowl is slightly misshaped, there are some small nicks in the edges and overall fine surface scratches.

Condition Report: Some wear to the makers mark, the cover is part marked and makers mark partially worn, markers are unmarked, gauge is good and heavy the hinge is good and cover snaps shut well, some wear to the gilt interior, especially inside the cover where the tops of the marks have touched the inside, there are small dents to two of the corners of the cover, some fine surface scratches and small nicks, some blackening remains in the marker numbers, markers fit well.

A silver-gilt and blue enamel travelling dressing table set, by J W Benson Ltd, London 1927, plain mounts, comprising: a hand mirror, two brushes, a scent bottle, a circular box, a nail buffer, a nail file, a manicure item and a pair of gilt scissors, in a fitted velvet lined leather case with gilt mounts and a carrying handle, with a lock, but no key. length of mirror 13cm. Condition Report: Overall some wear to some of the marks, all parts are marked correctly, wear to the gilt mounts, mirror glass is good,  bristles are good, scissors are sharp, some slight corrosion to the file, overall the enamel is good,  some staining to the velvet interior, case is worn but clasp works.

Comyns, London 1936, tapering circular handle, with a knop finial, the reverse of the oval bowl with two crests and inscribed 'Copy of The Salisbury Ladle 1684, given to The Fishmongers Livery on the Coronation of King George VI, 12 May 1937', length 38.2cm, approx. weight 4.9oz. Condition Report: Marks are good, gauge is good and heavy, details of the engraving are good,  some fine surface scratches, small nicks to the rim.

Condition Report: Stamped 'Cartier, Sterling' to the underside, the handle is unmarked, gauge is good, stands flat on a tabletop, solder repair where the spout is attached to the body and also where the handle is attached, overall some fine surface scratches.

A Victorian diamond-set lamb stickpin, the stylised lamb with a ruby eye is pavé-set with rose-cut diamonds in silver on gold, 18mm wide, 4.5cm high Condition report: Has a plaque to reverse which reads Rd228086. One rose-cut diamond missing. A really charming example, well-made and generally in very good condition for age.

A collection of six silver stamp boxes and cases, comprising: a late-Victorian triple box, by A and J Zimmerman, Birmingham 1899, rectangular form, the hinged cover set with three stamps under glass, length 8.8cm, plus two single stamp boxes, a double box with a hinged glass cover, by Saunders and Shepherd, Chester 1898, a double slide-action case, with engraved decoration, and an Edwardian box, the hinged cover set with two stamp compartments, Birmingham 1901. (6) Condition Report: Overall some wear to some of the marks, the sprung hinge on the triples stamp holder is worn, wear to the leather behind the glass, gilt interior is good, stands flat, slide-action one is good, there are chips to the glass on the double-stamp holder, gilt interior has wear, small single glazed stamp holder, has a sprung hinge and snaps shut well, one foot is pushed in and does not stand flat, hinge of the box with leather sides is worn, details of the decoration is good, sprung hinge of the Edwardian box is good and cover snaps shut, some wear to the gilt interior, details of the decoration good, overall some surface scratches to all pieces.

Lot 1144

A silver and enamel strut clock, by Williams Limited, Birmingham 1923, shaped rectangular form, dark turquoise enamel decoration, stylised border, gilt face, brass easel strut, length 11cm. Condition report: The clock has not been tested as working but does tick when wound. Marks are good, hinged easel back is good and the clock stands flat on a tabletop, some nicks and scratches to the edges of the enamel, enamel colour is good, clock face is good.

Lot 1016

A JAPANESE SHIBAYAMA-STYLE SILVER CASE MEIJI PERIOD, 1868-1912 The rectangular panel to the front embellished with three small birds amongst sakura and wisteria flowers, the inlays in mother of pearl on the gold lacquer ground, the silver incised with further blossoms and the reverse with a large iris growing from a stream, signed Seikin and with the jungin (pure silver) mark inside, 8.8cm x 6.5cm. Condition Report: There is a little scratching to the surface of the silver, in particular to the reverse and inside. Two small inlaid mother of pearl leaves are lacking, otherwise, good.

Condition Report: Marks on the tail are ok, some wear/ poorly struck, the pull-off head is part marked, gauge is good, small amount of movement as it stands on a tabletop but does stand flat, details of the feathers are good, eyes are good, there is a small crack to one of the back feet.

A Victorian diamond-set scroll brooch pendant, of foliate scroll design and set with graduated old circular-cut diamonds in silver on gold, detachable brooch fitting and diamond-set bale, 4cm wide, 5.5cm high Condition report: Detachable diamond bale probably not originally associated but will works well. Set with a mixture of rose-cut and old cushion-cut diamonds, a couple are missing. Mixed quality stones but all looks bright and lively, generally all in good condition for age.
