A George III Silver Mug, by William Cripps, London, 1762, baluster and on spreading foot, with leaf-capped scroll handle, later engraved with initials, 10.2cm high, 6oz 17dwt. Fully marked under base. The marks are generally clear. Further stamped underneath 'T. J. Paris Silversmiths Liverpool'. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The later initials are apparently 'NG' or 'GN'. They have possibly been engraved over an erasure. The top handle junction has been reattached. The surface is somewhat bright.

Fully marked on one side and on cover. There is wear to the marks with some only partly visible. There is otherwise overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and engraving.

Fully marked near rim and part marked inside cover. The marks have some wear but are generally legible. The spoons is marked for London, 1820. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and to the engraved crest on the spoon. The interior is gilded and the blue glass liner is probably later.

There is some fire-scale visible on the surface near the handle which may have been re-attached.

Lot 2011

A George III or George IV Silver and Tortoiseshell Snuff-Box, Circa 1820, rounded oblong, the hinged cover end ends each pique inlaid with stylised foliage, with gilt-metal hinge, 10cm wide. There are some overall scratches, marks and chips to the tortoiseshell, The silver inlay seems in generally to be intact. The gilt-metal hinge has some corrosion visible inside.

A Victorian Silver Posy-Holder and a Silvered Example, The First Maker's Mark Rubbed, Birmingham, 1864, The Second Apparently Unmarked, Circa 1880, the first six-sided tapering and engraved with foliage and a crest, with hinged legs, the second openwork and engraved with wrigglework, 15.5cm high and smaller, weight of silver 1oz 2dwt (2) . The silver example is fully marked near rim and part marked on each leg. There is some wear to the marks, though they are still legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The leg are slightly out of alignment to the body and the pin is lacking. The silvered example has some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some bruising to the rim.

A Victorian Silver Vinaigrette, Maker's Mark Indistinct, Birmingham, 1899, in the form of a snuff-mull, the rim chased with foliage, the hinged cover set with hardstones, opens to reveal a pierced grill, 5.5cm wide, gross weight 14dwt . Fully marked near rim. The cover part marked. There is some wear to the marks, particularly the maker's mark which is indistinct. There are some overall surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some solder around the seam at the front. This may be constructional or indicate a repair. There are some chips and scratches to the hardstone on the cover.

A Victorian Silver Vesta-Case, Probably by William Neale, Chester, 1889, oblong, the cover cast in high relief with three horses racing past a grandstand heading towards the finishing post, with suspension loop, the back engraved with a facsimile signature and dated '1891', 5.3cm wide, 17dwt. Fully marked on back. Part marked inside cover. There is some wear to the marks, particularly the maker's mark, though the marks are still legible. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some minor dings underneath.

A George III Silver Vinaigrette, by Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson, London, 1806, oblong and with canted corners, engraved with stylised oak leaves, opens to reveal a pierced grill, 3.5cm wide, 17dwt . Fully marked inside base and part marked inside cover. The grill apparently unmarked. The marks are clear. In generally good condition with only some very minor surface scratching. The grill and hinged cover both close well and function properly.

A Victorian Silver Vesta Case Cum Cheroot-Cutter, by Benjamin Barling and Sons, London, 1863, oblong and with engine-turned decoration, with two hinged compartments, the cover of one acting as the blade for the cigar-pierce, one side fitted with a pick, engraved with a crest and inscription, 5.5cm wide, 1oz. Fully marked inside the large section. Further part marked on each cover. Further stamped 'London' inside large section and on each cover. The marks are generally clear. There is some very minor surface scratching. There are some small dings to the bottom edge.

Fully marked on bezel and part marked on cover. The bezel further stamped with design registration number 488019. The marks are clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. There are some bruises. The suspension loop has been resoldered.

Each is marked on back of handle, the marks are generally clear, though the maker's mark on the spoon of 1816 is somewhat rubbed. Three are engraved with the same crest and one is later engraved with an initial 'C'. There is surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The spoon with the later initial has probably been erased.
