Fixed loop present, detachable absent. 1857 mutinied, consequently disbanded late that year.

Mounted on the centre of the cross, within a circlet inscribed “King’s Own Scottish Borderers”, Edinburgh Castle. Below the circlet, a tri-part scroll inscribed “Nisi Dominus Frustra”. Badge. Border Regiment Officer’s helmet plate circa 1905-14. A good scarce gilt example. Crowned star mounted with full laurel wreath, over the wreath, in silver a cross of the Order of the Bath lying upon further laurel sprays. The arms of the cross emblazoned with battle honours, from the Peninsula to South Africa 1899-1902. In the centre of the cross, within a circlet, “Arroyo Dos Molinos 1811”, “China” over the China Dragon, on a ground of white and red enamel. At the bottom of the cross a scroll, “The Border Regt”. (KK 247). Three loops to reverse. Tiny chip to enamel otherwise VGC.

German Third Reich Heer (Army) Officer’s dagger. A good unmarked example with amber twist grip and silver plated aluminium mounts. Oak leaf ornamented pommel, crossguard and langet bearing an eagle and swastika; plain blade. Housed in original plated scabbard retaining both loose suspension rings, the bands that support them are worn. A little service wear and dent to scabbard. GC Army (Heer) Officer’s dagger was designed by Paul Casburg in 1935.

A fine quality example, the rectangular gilt back plate with a burnished rim and engine-turned ground, upon this in silver St. Andrew’s Cross; over the cross in gilt a crown over an oval, “The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders”. Within the oval on a raised burnished gilt backing a silver crown over a thistle spray, below the Cross a silver Sphinx on Egypt tablet. Brace of hooks and studs to reverse. VGC Provenance. A very rare example in cast silver being the star of the Order of the Thistle but with the central motif replaced by the numerals “74”. Original stout pin fastener to reverse. VGC Bosleys March 2007, Lot 69. The 74th (Highlanders) Regiment of Foot became 2nd Bn. Highland Light Infantry in 1881.

Silver oval with raised border “Highlanders Borderers Light Infantry”; gilt French horn with VR to centre mounted centrally. Reverse retains original fixings, comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. Nuts impressed with Lion Passant for silver. Cleaned, VGC. Organised at Stirling in 1745. After several changes in title they were designated Highland Borderers Light Infantry Militia on 30th November 1855. Became 3rd Bn. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on Friday 1st July, 1881.

Indian Army Bengal Artillery Victorian Officer’s Pouch Flap. This flap is mounted with a silver bullion Royal Coat of Arms, Silvered Artillery field gun and padded title scroll, “Bengal Artillery”. The flap has been removed and attractively mounted into a specially shaped acanthus leaf carved period glazed frame. Some age fading to bullion, remains an attractive item.

German Third Reich WW2 Luftwaffe Flak breast badge in case of issue. A fine die-cast oxidised silver example. Within an oval oak wreath surmounted by applied Luftwaffe eagle and swastika, an Ack Ack gun. Vertical needle pin with ball hinge to reverse. Generally VGC. House in fitted blue leatherette case with gold lettering on the lid, imitation silk lining and blue flock base with some wear. Instituted 19th April 1940 and designed by Ernst Wilhelm Peekhaus.

Royal Navy / Fleet Air Arm Officer’s cased cocked hat set. A superb example, comprising: Cocked Hat fine black beaver skin example, to the left side a black silk rosette with a single twist loop mounted with a gilt post 1902 gilt button to the centre. The cocked hat is edged with one inch black lace; at each end, bullion tassels with blue lines. The interior is with leather sweatband and silk pleated lining. Tailor’s label for Gieves London ... Accompanied by full dress bullion epaulettes with silver bullion fouled anchor ... Full dress sword belt with gilt buckle and sword slings, black leather with two bullion lines ... Contained in the original metal and velvet lined storage tin, this with the name of “A.E. Ogilvy”. Bullion remains very fresh, ( 4 items) Attributed to Alexander Eaton Ogilvy who was born in Epsom in 1913. He entered Dartmouth in 1927 and was appointed Sub Lieutenant in 1934. He transferred for duties as an Air Observer to the newly formed Fleet Air Arm and on the 4th September 1940 was serving on the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious, when he was involved in an air accident resulting in his death.

Badge. Scottish. London Scottish Officer’s 1886 Edinburgh hallmarked silver plaid brooch. A very fine example by R & HB Kirkwood, 66 & 68 Thistle St. Edinburgh made the year of its inception. Plain burnished silver quoit mounted with thistle wreath and surmounted by a Crown with the Cross extending beyond the top of the quoit. To the centre, a Lion Rampant; below the wreath, a scroll inscribed “The London Scottish”. Stout pin to reverse. Very good condition This design was introduced in 1886. Silver Order of the Thistle Star mounted with gilt oval bearing the legend “Nemo me impune lacessit. The Royal Regiment”; within the oval, the pierced Collar of The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, St.Andrew and Cross to centre. The Collar and St. Andrew set on a rich green translucent enamel ground. Reverse retains both original loops. VGC Blue enamel centre worn by Officers of the 1st Battalion, green enamel by those of the 2nd Battalion.

Badge. 1st King George’s Own Gurkha Rifles Officer’s 1913 Birmingham hallmarked silver pouch belt plate. A very fine example by J & Co. (Joseph Jennens & Co). Silver laurel wreath surmounted by a separate Crown. Laurel wreath bearing honour scrolls “Bhurtpore” “Aliwal” “Sobraon” “Tirah” “Punjab Frontier” “Afghanistan 1878-80”. To the centre, silver crossed kukris surmounted by “GRI” cypher; below the kukris a strung bugle surmounted by the numeral “1”. Below the wreath a scroll inscribed “King George’s Own Own Gurkha Rifles”. All mounted on a darkened seeded backplate. Four screw posts to reverse. VGC Became 1st Prince of Wales’s Own Gurkha Rifles in 1906 when he visited India, then 1st King George’s Own Gurkha Rifles when he ascended the throne upon Edward VII’s death in 1910.

Within a crowned laurel wreath, mounted on the backing plate, crossed dhas set on a crowned strung bugle with “91” above and “Punjabis” scroll below. Four screw posts to reverse. Fracture between crown and laurel wreath on right side. 31st Madras Light Infantry redesignated 31st Burma Light Infantry in 1901 and then as 91st Punjabis (Light Infantry) in 1903 following Kitchener’s reforms. Became 3rd Bn. 8th Punjab Regiment in 1922.

Above the crown, a silver scroll inscribed “Cuidich’n Rhi”, below the wreath a thistle spray with scrolls inscribed “Maida” “Assaye” “Java” “Persia” and “Kooshab”. Reverse retains original fixings, comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. Burnished silver quoit finely engraved with 13 battle honours entwined with a thistle wreath, the centre set with a facetted glass foiled citrine. Reverse engraved “L.H.S. 74th Highlanders” and bearing stout contoured pin. VGC∂ Lambert Hugh Skene commissioned 1868, Lieut. 1871, Captain 1880.

Badge. Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment Officer’s helmet plate circa 1902-14. A good gilt example by J & Co. (Joseph Jennens & Co). Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black velvet centre mounted with silver White Horse of Kent on “Invicta” scroll surmounted by “Quo fas et gloria ducunt” scroll. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll “The Royal West Kent Regiment” . Three loops to reverse. Minor wear to gilt. Near VGC.

Circlet bearing crowned ‘33’ to centre; inscribed ‘Waterford’ below. Complete with refitted shank. VGC Approx. 15 mm Formed 1793 precedence number 33, became Waterford Militia Artillery in 1854

Badge. Border Regiment Victorian Officer’s post 1891 glengarry badge. A fine scarce die-stamped unmarked silver example. Maltese cross superimposed on a laurel wreath which rests on a tri-part scroll inscribed “The Border Regt.”. Lions between the arms of the cross, balls to the tips. Each arm bearing three battle honours. To the centre, within a circlet inscribed “Arroyo dos Molinos 1811” the Dragon on red enamel ground with “China” above on white enamel ground. Two loops to reverse. Minor service wear, generally VGC.

Badge. Scottish. 74th (Highlanders) Regiment Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1820-55. A very fine and rare example. Burnished gilt rectangular plate mounted with silver-multi rayed star bearing regiment’s battle honours; the star in turn mounted with gilt elephant wearing silver howdah cloth. Below the star “LXXIV”. Two hooks and two studs to reverse, retains leather liner. Cleaned. VGC (Parkyn 70)
