Mercedes and Auto Racing (In the Belle poque, 1895-1915) by Robert Dick. A rare American publication, 363pp, 2005. Also Motor Racing with Mercedes-Benz by George Monkhouse both the 1938 edition (without DJ) and the 1948 edition (with DJ), together with German Racing Silver by Karl Ludvigsen, 172pp, 2009. Together with Auto Union V16 and Auto Union 1934-39, both with DJs and B.M.W.- From Roadster to Legend. (7)
Automobiles Voisin 1919-1958 by Pascal Courteult. A White Mouse publication of 1991, being a limited edition numbered of only 1000 printed, although 3500 were planned. This is a review copy, and therefore not numbered. French text. Together with a saddle-stitched English translation by Peter Hull, also published in 1991 with the assistance of the M.S.M.T. 63pp including an index. The book is celebrated for its silver intaglio plate mounted front cover. Both books correctly housed in a decorative slipcase, all in practically perfect condition. (1)
Rolls-Royce 'Springfield' 40/50hp Portfolio. An unusual, c1922 landscape-style black card wallet, opening to reveal a cream-coloured 4pp printed folder holding ten side-profile colour plates of different 'Springfield body styles; Piccadilly, Pall Mall, Oxford, Tilbury, Pickwick, Buckingham, etcetera. Full specifications of the chassis. The cream folder is very clean, the outer wallet with a silver embossed profile of the 'Spirit of Ecstasy', with very light rubbing. (1)
*M.G. A new and unused wheel spinner with a brown and cream M.G. motif centrally fitted, together with a wheel hammer, also with an M.G. motif, and two paper weights. Included in the lot is a 1:43rd scale model of an M.G. K3 Magnette fashioned in Continental silver. (5)

Also, The Hyphen in Rolls-Royce, the story of Claude Johnson by W. J. Oldham, 194pp, 1967 1st ed, with a DJ; Rolls-Royce Aline Compendium 1913 & 1973 bound in black cloth with silver titles; catalogue of Parts 40/50hp Phantom II, a modern reprint, and eight copies of the Rolls-Royce Owner magazine, 1960s. A folio-size (38.5 x 29cm) hardback volume, with marbled board covers and a red cloth spine with silver lettering (cover edges rubbed), sub-titled: La Locomotion Naturelle, L'Attelage - La Voiture, Le Cyclisme, La Locomotion Mecanique, L'Automobile, the text and documentation being by Baudry de Saunier, Charles Dollfus, and Edgar de Geoffroy. French text, profusely illustrated in black-and-white and colour, including photographs, art works, text figures, drawings and several tipped-in full-page colour plates. Mottled green-patterned end-papers, 464 pages in all, published by Editions Saint-Georges and L'Illustration, 1935, 1st ed. A sound and clean copy internally. (1)
The Bulletin of the V.S.C.C. A run of loose issues from Volume V. No. 1 (June, 1946) to No.180 (Winter 1988/89), contained in two stout cardboard loose-lidded boxes, each with an unused index panel at one end. The copies are generally in clean and sound condition, apart from a couple with loose/repaired covers, some page browning, and rusty staples on some early issues. Also, included with the lot is a hardbound octavo volume in maroon cloth with gilt lettering/decoration containing reprinted copies of Volume III. No. 2 (March, 1937) to Vol. IV. No. 6 (July, 1939) and another, hardbound tall quarto (33 x 21cm) volume in dark blue cloth with silver lettering/decoration (the lettering on the spine reads 'Vintage Sports-Car Club 1935-1939') with much information in typed form relating to the Club's early years (Bulletins, Circulars, Awards, Members and their Motors, etcetera). The volumes are in excellent, virtually 'as new' condition. (4)
A Record of Grand Prix and Voiturette Racing. Six hardback quarto volumes in this series compiled by Paul Sheldon assisted by Duncan Rabagliati (and others). The volumes here, all uniformy bound in black cloth with silver lettering to the front cover and spines, comprise: Vol. 1 (1900-1925); Vol. 2 (1926-1931); Vol. 4 (1937-1949); Vol. 5 (1950-1953); Vol. 6 (1954-1959); and Vol. 9 (1970-1973). All are in very good condition and First Editions, Volume 9 with a certificate on the front paste-down end-paper, signed by Sheldon and Rabagliati, recording the volume as Number 296 of a limited edition of 500 copies. Content varies between about 300 and 400 pp. (6)

An excellent hardback copy in heavy-duty slipcase of the 1st ed of the mammoth work by Cimarosti, edited by Albert Obrist, with a dual German and French text, published by Hallwag Verlag, Bern & Stuttgart, 1992. A small folio-sized volume (34 x 25cm) with embossed black cloth covers and 'Grand Prix Suisse' in block capital silver lettering to the spine. 624 pages, profusely illustrated with black-and-white and colour photographs. A new hardback copy of this comprehensive work, still sealed in its polythene wrapper. German text, and very well-illustrated. Mercedes-Benz 1886-1986, by Jurgen Lewandowski. 1st ed, 1986. No. 409 of a Special Limited Edition of 1,000 copies published for the Friends of Daimler-Benz (fur die Freunde des Hauses Daimler-Benz). Signed by the author on the limitation page in Volume I. Another excellent two-volume set in a slipcase in a similar but very slightly larger format to the preceding lot, being published by Edita Schroder & Weise. Copy of purchase receipt taped to front free end-paper and the dust jackets both protected by clear polythene. Superbly illustrated in monochrome and colour. Tri-lingual text in German, French and English. Blue cloth covers with silver lettering/decoration. (1)

*Warwick (Craig). Goodwood Festival of Speed, 2000, pen and ink heightened with gouache and bodycolour, signed by artist to lower right, 47.5 x 73 cms (18.5 x 29 inches) mounted, framed and glazed The painting shows three Auto Union racing cars in front of Goodwood House. Known as the three silver arrows, Auto Union and Mercedes dominated Grand Prix racing until the outbreak of World War II. (1)

*A Two-Track Tricycle. A dual-gender machine dating c1885 with a central chain drive to the off-side 36-inch wheel with a 19-inch steering wheel to the front. Other features include: an 'S' spring saddle support and original saddle, a contracting band-brake around the main drive sprocket, operated by a long lever with a turned bone finial, stirrup handles for steering and safety with original bone grips in delightful condition, original spokes (now painted silver), original chain and chain cover and tyring. A coat of black paint at some time in the past has helped to preserve this interesting survivor, which has recently been removed from barn storage A little time has been spent trying to ascertain the manufacturer of this tricycle. My original thought was that it was from the CMC factory, but their Two-Track machines were not central drive. Further research is ongoing. (1)
*Condiment Set. In the form of a touring motor-car with fitted mustard bottles, salt and pepper jars. Finished in nickel-plated silver, it possesses a steering wheel, front-mounted lamp, rolling wheels for moving up and down the table. In good useable condition. 7-ins (58-cm) long. (1)

A pair of George III silver candlesticks by W.C, London 1772, possibly William Cripps, having square filled bases, each side with grotesque mask and swags, fluted columns, one bent, with feathered capitals, with shaped sconces having egg and dart rims and bearing engraved family crest of knight’s arm, possibly replacements, AF (4)One is certainly bent and leans somewhat.
