Fassbender was a successful professional photographer, a leading proponent of pictorialism, and a popular teacher of photography. He was in the top echelon of American pictorial photographers during the 1930s and 1940s, was exhibited internationally, and was widely reproduced in photographic periodicals. He was a founding member of the Photographic Society of America and a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (F.R.P.S.). Fassbender was inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame in 1980. The image celebrates Christmas in Central Park. [6480-3-700]
