A good quality 6 shot 50 bore self cocking bar hammer percussion pepperbox revolver, 9” overall, barrels 3½” with London proofs, GS frame engraved with scrolls and “W A Beckwith, London, Improved Revolving Pistol”, with top safety, finely chequered walnut butt with vacant silver escutcheon, and engraved butt cap with trap. GWO & C (surface rust with some light pitting to steel parts, trigger guard and top safety AF)
A good silver hilted hunting sword or hanger, c 1760, the 17th century DE blade 27½”, with 2 fullers each stamped “Sahagum” and with running wolf mark, the unmarked silver mounted hilt with lion’s head pommel, crosspiece with stylised trophies and recurved quillons, and steel chain guard, the green stained ivory grip carved with hexagonal and triangular patterns with engraved silver flower headsd at the intersections. A good 22 bore Greek or Albanian flintlock holster pistol, 18½” overall, the 11½” barrel entirely overlaid with panels of engraved silver vines and leaves separated by borders of cable, leaf and pellet design, the French lock engraved with flower head and “Moular defour a St Etienne”, the entire fullstock of heavy embossed and chased WM decorated with flowers, trophies and panels, the bulbous butt of writhen form, the butt and butt cap further decorated with gilt panels, flowers and buttcap finial. GWO & generally quite crisp condition (top jaw and one side nail missing, tumbler screw replaced) Plate 12
A pair of 22 bore percussion holster pistols by Ketland & Co, converted from flintlock, 12¾” overall, octagonal barrels 8” engraved “London” in script, with Tower private proofs and silver spider fore sights; flat stepped locks engraved “Ketland & Co” in script, plain walnut fullstocks with bronze mounts including engraved trigger guards with pineapple finials; horn tipped ramrods with worms. GWO & C (some pitting at one breech, traces of old repairs to stocks); in a later green baize lined mahogany case containing bag shaped copper flask (worn, charger AF), a continental steel pincer mould, cleaning rod, Eley cap tin, small pewter oil bottle, and the handle only of a nipple key or turnscrew. A pair of DB 20 bore percussion coaching pistols, converted from flintlock with breech drums, 13¾” overall, heavy twist barrels 8¾”, stepped flat locks with safety bolts, the plates engraved “W Parker”, halfstocked with rounded chequered butts, silver barrel wedge plates, vacant escutcheons and engraved steel mounts; replacement brass tipped ramrods. GWO & C (rather worn, one safety bolt replaced, non matching sets of hammers). Plate 15
A Chinese blue and white Bowl and Cover Kangxi c.1690, the bun body and domed cover with panels of flowering shrubs, the handles replaced in silver (probably c.1790) knop frits, 19cm diam. 13cm high Fragmentory inventory, probably c.1900, listed as Number 3 Blue and White Bowl with Cover bought at Linden Sale in 1861.
