A rare and well-engineered 7 ¼ inch gauge model of a L 4-4-0 tender locomotive No 2663 'George the Fifth', built from Bassett Lowke castings around 1912 and rebuilt by Mr R Fenwick in the1980 s to early 1990 s with copper boiler Serial number 87189 built by Swindon Boilers. The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including pressure gauge, water sight gauge with shut off cocks, regulator, direction control, blower, two injectors, safety valve, steam brake and blow down valve. The chassis having twin inside cylinders 1 ¾ bore by 3 stroke with Greenly-Joy valve gear, two injectors, foot plate controlled cylinder drain cocks, fluted motion and fitted mechanical lubricating system. The model finished in black and red lined livery with cab-side number plate, George the Fifth' name plate and six wheel tender with driving seat, foot rests, hand feed pump and water cocks, fitted hand-rails, steps and vacuum hose. Total length of locomotive and tender 214cm. Cab width 32cm. Height of locomotive at cab 50cm. Boiler history: Swindon Boiler Serial No 87189. Certificate dated the 8th of March 1987 Hydrostatic test pressure 200 psi. Working pressure 100 psi. Passed boiler history from the February 1995 to 2012 available for inspection at the auction rooms on view days. The locomotive has not been run since 2009. No current boiler history available. A fine exhibition quality 1 inch scale model of a Burrell Gold Medal showman road tractor Lady Ruby , built by Mr K.W.Williams of Doncaster and being a two speed showman tractor of compound design with a copper boiler, the fittings including a water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves, drain cocks, copper pipework, ratchet mechanical lubricator, crosshead guides, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, solid flywheel with wooden block brake and belt drive to electric generator, the chassis details including spoked wheels with fitted rubber road tyres, worm and roller chain steering, damper, cable drum with fairleads, hand brake to back wheels, fitted belly tanks, lifting hose and brass olivers supported sign written canopy with extension chimney, The model finished in red and black lined paintwork with polished brightwork. The engine has a silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves. Polished brass boiler bands. Engine details include cylinder approximately 1 inch bore x 1 ½ inch stroke, drain cocks, mechanical lubricator, trunk type crosshead guide, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel having lined finish. Pickering type governor with belt drive from crank, chassis details include spoked straked wheels with polished brass hub caps, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads, water lifter, hand brake to second shaft, wooden footboard and tool box. The model is finished in red and black paintwork with fitted road lamps. Width 16 ½ inches x length 26 inches (42cm x 66cm).
A finely engineered 3 inch scale model of an Allchin Agricultural Traction Engine Royal Chester , built by the late Mr Patrick Avery of Ashbourne, Derbyshire being a scaled up version of the famous W.J.Hughes 1 ½ inch scale model. It is a single cylinder, two speed general purpose agricultural engine. The engine has a copper silver soldered boiler with fittings including protection cased water sight-glass, steam pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves. Engine details include single cylinder approximately 2in bore x 3in stroke, lever operated drain cocks and associated pipework, ratchet mechanical lubricator, trunk type crosshead guide, Stephenson's link reverse with graduated lever control, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel, chassis details include spoked straked wheels, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads and hand brake to second shaft. The model is finished in red and black lined paintwork with polished brass boiler bands and hub caps. Length 127cm. Width 55cm. Height to top off chimney 87cm. Comes together with drawings for boiler but no boiler history was available.
An mid-19th Century model of a beam engine and horizontal live steam boiler, constructed mainly in brass with steel beam, crankshaft and rods, the cylinder ½ inch bore by 1 inch stroke, double acting and reversed by a handle beside the cylinder, steam supplied by a Cornish type boiler mounted beside the engine, the centre-flue boiler with silver soldered brass ends, the whole steam plant mounted on wood base with glazed oak show case which is believed to have been made in 1931 when the model was restored.
