1974 Churchill Centenary Trust commemorative silver plate in Blue Presentation box. A silver limited edition plate by John Pinches Medallists Ltd. This sterling silver plate was produced in 1974 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL. The plate has a relief portrait of Sir Winston Churchill in 24 carat gold heavily plated onto sterling silver. The relief is displayed on a ground of polished sterling silver. The solid sterling silver back is separately formed in order to make it smooth. By means of a special filler, the two parts are imperceptibly and permanently merged into a unique work of art. This plate is uniquely stamped with the serial number 289 to the base. The same serial is hand written on the signed certificate, by the chairman of the Churchill Centenary Trust, John Colville. Together with the signed certificate is a booklet about the item and Trust. The plate comes in the original blue velvet lined display stand and original box.
