Two early 20th Century Chinese Ginbari cloisonné sectional tea caddies of circular form, raised on three feet protruding down as columns from the outer edge of the body, the silver ground decorated with cockerel and garden to one panel, a bird in flight above foliage to another and bird in seas in the third, the base decorated with a floral spray, the lid opening to reveal upper lined section which in turn removes to reveal a deeper lined section to the body, 16 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Both finials off on both pots. One is now missing. The chicken decorated caddy has damage around where the finial would have been. Various dents and dings throughout. Various scratches, scuffs and marks and various damages to the Ginbari ware. Various cracks appearing throughout and some losses . Large cracks to the chicken panel. Second tea caddy - again the finial off and missing. Lots of cracks and splits and numerous missing sections. Scratches, scuffs and marks throughout. Various dents. Both items have various considerable signs of wear and tear throughout and in need of attention and restoration. The base is falling on one of the top sections of the tea caddies.
A collection of early 20th Century Chinese Ginbari cloisonné wares to include a vase on a silver coloured ground decorated with purple and blue training flowers with wide flared rim, pinched body to the circular foot,19 cm high, an ovoid vase with variated sky blue to silver ground decorated with floral sprays, embossed diamond mark to base, 12 cm high, a silver ground parasol handle decorated with floral sprays, 21.5 cm long, a silver ground inkwell decorated with purple and blue trailing flowers, 9 cm high, a green ground lidded dish, the cover decorated with large purple flower opening to reveal a light blue interior with butterfly decoration, 11 cm wide, a cigarette case decorated in a light blue ground, with purple and blue trailing flower decoration, a bird on water, 12.5 cm x 8.5 cm and an oblong silver ground lidded box decorated with purple and blue trailing flowers, a bird on water, the lid opening to reveal butterfly and floral spray decoration, 11.5 cm x 9 cm (7) CONDITION REPORTS The vase with the wide flared rim has extensive cracks to the enamel all over the vase to the inside of the rim and the underside of the rim. Cracks to the body. A large area of loss to the enamel to the base and a dent to the base. Accretions, tarnishing to the metal, areas of dirt, surface scratches etc. The ovoid vase has areas of staining, accretions, surface scratches. There is a chip to one side of the vase near the flower decoration. Cracks towards the base. The parasol handle has extensive cracking all the way along. A large area of loss to the middle of the handle all the way down to the copper. Surface scratches, accretions, staining, dirt etc. The inkwell has numerous large cracks and areas of loss, accretions, surface scratches. The lid is detached. Numerous cracks on the underside of the lid. The green ground lidded dish has accretions, dirt, numerous cracks, some areas of loss to the outside edges. Tarnishing of the metal. Cracks to the inside of the lid and also to the inside of the base. Cracks to the outer base, some quite large. Tarnishing to the metal also. The cigarette case has numerous cracks to both sides. Tarnishing of the metal, staining, discoloiuration, accretions, build-up of dirt on the inside. The oblong silver ground lidded dish has surface scratches, discolouration, accretions, tarnishing to the metal, cracks to the inside of the lid, cracks to the outside. The main body of the dish has cracks to the inside edges and the inside walls of the dish. Tarnishing of the metal, accretions, discolouration, staining and cracks to the outside. All items show extensive wear and tear - see images for details
An Edwardian silver tea urn/samovar of rounded rectangular form, the stepped top above twin lion mask handles raised on reeded legs to hairy paw feet, inscribed "Presented to Major Patterson by his brother Officers on his marriage 12th December 1901" (by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company, London 1901), approx 235 cm high, approx 87.5 oz total including handles and burner, housed in its own oak carry case bearing ivorine labels to the inside inscribed "The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company Limited" and a brass label to the outside inscribed "Major Stanley Patterson on hs marriage December 1901 by some of his brother Officers 2nd Arg. and Suth. Highlanders" CONDITION REPORTS Wobbly on feet indicating bent legs. Scratches, scuffs and marks throughout. Burner is not silver, may be associated. Case assroted marks, scratches staining woods, paint, chips, gouges, accretions. Splits to the wood. Interior tatty. Possible new hinges. etc General signs of wear and tear throughout.
