Silver Renaissance apostle spoon, Netherlands Anno 1718. A very beautiful and large apostle spoon with a pear-shaped scoop. The back of the scoop has a richly engraved cartouche containing an inscription that can be traced back to the year 1718. The handle is partly decorated with a relief decoration of a bird with fruits. The rectangular profiled intermediate piece continues into a partly smooth upper stem and is crowned with an apostle. The Netherlands, type spoon originating in East Frisia, ca. 1718, hallmarks: re-inspected with Dutch tax mark (dolphin) with key (sign of 2/3 refund of deposit tax upon export). A pair of driven earrings set with an entourage of an opal (4.83 x 3.65 mm, 1 opal has a chip) with 20 rose-cut diamonds set in a closed setting in silver in a blue and white enamelled decor with a ball as a pampel. Drop earrings are fitted with modern clip-ons, but originally they were fitted with a dormeuse. Presumably French from the period 1845-1865. In reasonably good condition considering the age.
