A rare Indian Army officer's gilt 1844 (Albert) pattern shako plate of the 44th Infantry, in the centre the numerals XLIV on a Mother of Pearl backing within a circle inscribed "Auspicio Regis et Senatus Angliae" and a wreath of laurel and palm leaves, all on a 10 pointed star, the top ray replaced by the crown, with a silver plated inset between the wreath and backplate; see Sale 477 Lot 876 for companion shoulder belt plate. Very Good Condition
A Victorian officer's rifle green cloth spiked helmet of the King's Own 2nd Staffordshire Militia, with silver plated peak binding, top mount and spike, leather backed chinchain and ear rosettes, the helmet plate bearing gilt Royal Crest on black velvet within a title circle, leather and silk lining, in an associated tin case. Very Good Condition (helmet plate reaffixed and centre worn).
An officer's grey cloth spiked helmet of the 20th County of London Battalion (Artists Rifles), with silver plated top mount and spike, velvet backed chinchain and ear rosettes, and Maltese Cross helmet plate, the centre bearing the heads of Mars and Minerva with motto "Cum Marte Minerva", and surmounted crown over "20" on "VR" and "Artists" scroll, leather and silk lining, in an associated tin case. Very Good Condition, (lining silk torn, top of spike dented)

Good Condition, the plating good (very faint surface moth traces and a few small holes hardly affecting the appearance)
A post 1902 officer's blue cloth spiked helmet of The Bedfordshire Regiment with gilt peak binding, top mounted velvet backed chinchain with ear rosettes, gilt and silver plated helmet plate with blue enamelled centre device, leather lining. Good Condition (helmet plate reaffixed, lining silk missing)
A rare 1768 fur mitre cap of a Pioneer of Infantry, brown fur with dark red cloth inset at the back, large red painted silver plated ear to ear plate, embossed with Royal Crest on a trophy of axes and handsaws with "G" and "R" on either side, all within an ornametal motto scroll "Nec Aspera Terrent", leather edging, hessian lining. Good Condition (some wear to fur, lining partly unstitched)
A good silver mounted Burmese sword dha, c 1800, 39", swollen blade 22". Large curved ivory grip finely carved with demons, two twin headed, another with horse's head, all standing or dancing within pierced foliage in relief. Silver mounts with filigree bands including large bud shaped pommel, in its silver mounted scabbard. Good Condition (Please see lot 92 for image)
An interesting continental sabre, the broad Italian blade 28", c 1610, with toothed crescent marks down back edge, and with cross and crescent marks in the narrow fullers; later hilt with straight silver crosspiece and pommel button; the impressive ivory grip carved with fluted and hatched patterns, and terminating in eagle's head. A Turkish sword Yataghan dated AH 1247 (=AD 1831), blade 22" with gold and silver damascened dated inscription. Gilt ferrule and gripstrap with applied fluted corals, 2 piece walrus ivory grips. In its silver coloured metal scabbard embossed with foliage, stylised serpent chape, top with pierced filigree decoration. A good Japanese sword katana, blade 24" attributionto Sukesada of Osafume Bizen Province, Tensho 3 Year 8th Month c 1575. Feint yakiba, tape bound same tsuka, some silver decoration to fuchi kashira, thin iron tsuba with stencil style arrow pattern. menuki of 2 puppies and reverse side a mon overlaid on elongated diamond frame. In its black lacquered saya with stipled iron kojiri. Plain black kurikata. Good Condition (saya throat missing) (Please see lot 113 for image)
A charming small double barrelled flintlock over and under tap action pocket pistol by T Richards, turn off barrels 11/4", Birmingham proved at breech, hidden trigger and with top bar safety, slab sided butt with silver escutcheon, Good Working Order and Condition, secreted in a book, the centre made into a box (baise lined), (Book much worn).
A scarce 6 shot 54 bore Pennell Patent self cocking revolving percussion rifle, 46", browned octagonal twist barrel 283/4" Birmingham poved, engraved "Thos Pennell, 95 Bath Street, St Mary's Square". Colour hardened enclosed action nicely engraved with leopard and stag, with sprung stud to retain the hammer, the top surface engraved "Patent". Foliate engraved steel furniture, blued trigger guard. Figured walnut stock with chequered grip and silver escutcheon. Good Working Order and Condition (small patch of moderate pitting to barrel, top strap missing)

A very good double barrelled 16 bore flintlock coaching carbine, by Walker, c 1815, 311/2" overall, twist barrel 16" with silver line at breeches, secured to stock by large headed bolt beneath fore end, flat locks with piegeon breasted cocks, raised pans and rollers on frizzen springs, the plates engraved "Walker", walnut halfstock with chequered wrist, plain steel mounts including large trigger guard, original brass tipped ebony ramrod with worm. Good Working Order and Condition the locks generally crisp with dark patina (some light pitting and dark patina to barrels and mounts) (Please see lot 169 for image)
A .577" percussion three band Enfield pattern percussion Prize Rifle by the London Armoury Company, 551/2", barrel 39" with London private proofmarks, ladder rearsight to 1000 yards. Fullstocked, lock border engraved with crowned VR and 1863 L.A.Co, regulation iron mounts, steel sling swivels and ramrod. Chequered small and grip, the butt inlaid with a circular silver plated engraved "42nd Middlesex Rifle Volunteers, Won by T.M. Widdicombe, No 2 Company Prize 1863".
