An SB 14 bore flintlock fowling piece c 1820, 54” overall, 2 stage part octagonal barrel 38½” with London proofs and traces of “Dumfries” at the breech, the flat lock having French style cock, rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring, the plate stamped “Harley”, the walnut halfstock having horn fore end cap, silver barrel wedge plates and escutcheon, chequered wrist and steel mounts including trigger guard with pineapple finial, and with brass mounted ramrod. GWO & C (barrel and mounts have been moderately pitted and cleaned, small chip from stock in front of lock).

A 5 shot .36” Manhattan Fire Arms Co “Navy” percussion revolver, the 4” barrel with address and patent dates (faint), number 68848 on all parts; London proved, the cylinder with series of fight scenes in foliate bordered ovals and bearing 1859 patent date; varnished walnut grips, the flat base stamped “NR Co”. Basically GC, the trigger guard retaining most original silver plated finish (trigger spring AF, barrel wedge screw missing, dark patina and surface rust overall, grip varnish patchy).

Mayer/ 4.3.1941”, the lid surmounted by a 1939 Iron Cross, the base rim stamped with small phoenix (?) maker’s mark. GC (the plating tarnished and slightly worn); also “Hitler’s Mein Kampf”, the profusely illus unexpurgated English language version pub by Hutchinson & Co, with impressed red linen covered binding.
