Accompanied by a pair of fibre identity tags “203307 G H FINLAYSON MT ASC”, Royal Flying Corps other ranks cap badge and a Army Cadet Force cloth formation sign. (7 items) Private Patrick Nolan served with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers from June 1915 until being discharged on 2nd January 1918. He was awarded the silver war badge. Harold G Brick served with the 8th Battalion Gloucestershire regiment before being transferred to the Training Reserve Rifle Brigade and later Kings Royal Rifle Corps.

Identity Disc of Flight Lieutenant Ithel David Jeremy DFC, Killed Whilst Serving with 305 (Polish) Squadron September 1941, silver circular identity disc, engraved “JEREMY I.D. OFFR RAF METH A 51267”. Flight Lieutenant I D Jeremy was killed on operations on 15th September 1941 and was part of an all English crew in 305 (Polish) Squadron RAFVR. He was an Air Gunner and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on 18th July 1941. He is buried at Honfleur Community cemetery, France. The service number on the this ID we believe to be a previous service number. Worthy of further research.

5x WW1 Royal Army Medical Corps Identity Discs, an interesting selection mostly relating to men of the RAMC who served in the Middle East theatre of war. The first is made from a large Turkish coin and has an engraved scene of a temple to the centre, “A R DENNISS 25861 RAMC” around; large Arabic coin engraved to one side “S/SGT ELLIS F.J 24TH STATIONARY HOSPITAL KANTARA E.E.F 1916-1919”; alloy id tag nicely engraved with regimental badge to centre, WW1 battle honours to the edge and “A FAWCETT 32760”; similar example to previous with MACEDONIA to the lower section and details of “5338 W H E HILL” reverse side with next of kins details; hallmarked silver example engraved “LIEUT BULLEID A C.E R.A.M.C”. Scarce WW1 Identity Disc of the Household Battalion, fibre identity tag impressed “TPR H M HOPE 1959 PRES H.B”. Trooper Hugh Mitchell Hope enlisted on 2nd August 1916, he was discharged as a result of a gun shot wound right side. Entitled to the Silver War Badge along with British War and Victory medals. Also noted as service number 17190 with the Scots Guards.

2x British Officers 3rd & 4th Dragoon Guards Identity Discs, the first being a heavily polished hallmarked silver (Birmingham 1917) identity tag engraved “2nd LIEUT E P WEDLAKE-LEWIS 3RD DRAGOON GUARDS”. The second is a sterling silver example engraved “2ND LT W LOVERIDGE C OF E 4TH R. I. DRAGOON GUARDS”. (2 items) Edward Philip Wedlake-Lewis was educated at Tonbridge School 1914-17. Served at RMC Sandhurst and was gazetted into the 3rd Dragoon Guards. He served overseas in France & Flanders. During WW2 he served as an officer in various theatres of war as part of the 7th Armoured Division. He was mentioned in despatches and also awarded the MBE in 1945; A record exists of a Lieutenant M W Loveridge serving with the 4th Royal Inniskilling Dragoons who was awarded the Military Cross.

3x British Officers Identity Discs of Lancers Interest, consisting of a fine example made in sterling silver, engraved to the front “LIEUT E C RADCLIFFE 9TH LANCERS C.E” reverse side engraved “Derriford, Crown Hill, S. Devon”; fine hallmarked silver tag made by Asprey London, engraved “LIEUT A C M PYM 16TH LANCERS C OF E”, interestingly the previous rank has been scratched off (2nd); sterling silver Id tag engraved “CAPT GEORGE WHELER 21ST (EMPRESS OF INDIA’S) LANCERS”. (3 items) The Imperial War Museum have a photograph of Lieutenant Radcliffe in their “Bond of Sacrifice” collection; Lieutenant Arthur Charles Melville Pym was born in 1887, he served in France with the 16th Lancers and later Royal Air Force. He was mentioned in despatches 1st January 1916; Captain George Bevil Hastings Wheeler MC, was adjutant East Kent Yeomanry 1912, served at Gallipoli, mentioned in despatches in 1916 for France & Flanders. Later served out in the Middle East with the 21st Lancers.

2x WW1 British Officers Identity Discs of Hussars Interest, consisting of an un-marked silver disc engraved “CAPT A F HOLDEN S NOTTS HUSSARS C of E”; silver (not hallmarked) disc engraved “LT P L B SHERBURN 18TH HUSSARS C OF E”. Both remain in good condition. (2 items) Captain Athole Frederick Holden was born on 1st March 1889. He served with the South Notts Hussars from 1914-19, was mentioned in despatches three times and awarded the Military Cross. Finally rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; Philip Leslie Bailey Sherburn was the son of Sir John Sherburn of Brantingham Thorpe, Yorkshire. Educated at Harrow before graduating from RMA Sandhurst, commissioned into the 18th Hussars, served during the Great War (1915-18). Died 7th December 1930.

(4 items) The Marlborough register shows a Harry Guy Bowen Jordan born 1898. Great War special list 1917 3rd Cavalry Indian Army, Lieutenant 1918, Captain 1923. Retired 1935.

(8 items) Private Cecil L Rennard was from Liverpool, he served overseas from 1917 and was taken prisoner of war in 1918, whilst in captivity he had his left leg amputated; Private Rowland Dentith was born in Burland Cheshire, he enlisted at Crewe in the 17th (1st City of Liverpool) Battalion Kings Liverpool regiment, he died of wounds received 20th April 1918; 1173 Sergeant Harry P Bowden served with the 1/4th Norfolk regiment; Arthur Cecil John Taylor, formerly 763546 (joined 20th November 1916) 2nd Lieutenant 9th Suffolk regiment 29th August 1917, wounded 30th November 1917. Entitled to British War and Victory medals; William Leslie served with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire regiment in France & Flanders from 30th April 1915.

(11 items) 12247 Private Charles Trouse served with the 3rd Battalion Devon regiment and was discharged due to Gun Shot Wound left calf; J C Dominick was an officer serving with the 18th Battalion Suffolk regiment rising to the rank of Lieutenant; Private Charles L Skevens also had service number 1711, 15th battalion was the Yeomanry battalion of the Suffolk regiment; Private Louis Thornber served with the 2nd battalion Suffolk regiment, he was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry and was killed in action 1st October 1918; Private Edward Wood was from Kent and served in the 4/16th Company Reserve Battalion Suffolk regiment.

He was awarded the silver war badge; 2nd Lieutenant later Captain William Edward Bywater previously served in the 28th (Artists) London Regiment.

Victorian Bicorn Hat of the Regimental Surgeon of the 2nd Glamorgan Rifle Volunteers, fine example of a beaver skin fur bicorn dress cap with black central rosette and silver brocade strip leading to a crowned Victorian Rifle Volunteers button. Bullion work to each end. Interior with tan leather sweatband and crimson lining to the interior with gilt tooled details of Hobson & Sons. Fitting to the top of the headdress for the fitting of the parade plume, this plume is a red over white swan feather short plume which is contained in its original metal storage tin. The bicorn cap is housed in its original storage tin with brass plaque to the front engraved “Surgeon F. W. Evans M.D 2nd Glamorgan Rifle Volrs”. Some wear to the headdress but generally a good example. (2 items)

3rd Volunteer Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers Officers Busby, superb example of a late Victorian / early Edwardian officers bearskin busby in the fusilier pattern. To the centre of the busby is a superb quality officers silver gilt regimental busby grenade for the 3rd Volunteer battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers and yellow feather hackle plume to the side. Interior with black leather liner and the white metal chin chains are leather backed. Interior with Carter & Co retailers label and an original inked name label “Major C Norman”. Overall an excellent example.

Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Officers Fur Busby Belonging to Lieutenant Charles Dunlop, Died of Wounds Received 22nd October 1914, superb example of an officers fur busby of fusilier pattern. The busby is complete with its original fine quality officers silver gilt busby grenade. White feather plume to the side of the busby. Interior with the original leather liner with gilt tooled retailers details of “W CATER & CO”. Complete with its leather backed brass linked chin strap. Housed in its original metal storage tin with W CATER & CO retailers plaque and painted to the front “C. DUNLOP ROYAL INNISKILLING FUSILIERS”. The busby remains in excellent condition. Lieutenant Charles Dunlop was from Ballylesson, Ireland. He gained a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant into the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers on 22nd January 1913. He proceeded overseas as a Lieutenant with the 2nd Battalion of the Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was wounded in action at the battle of Aisne and eventually succumbed to these wounds on 22nd October 1914. He is buried at Les Gonards Cemetery, Versailles, France. He was 22 at the age of his death. A photograph of Lieutenant Charles Dunlop can be found in the “British Army Bonds of Sacrifice: Officers Died in the Great War 1914-16”.

Royal Tank Corps (R.T.C) Majors Mess Dress Uniform, fine un-attributed mess dress uniform in black cloth with gilt flat engraved buttons, knotted cord shoulder boards with bullion rank crowns. Lapels with silver gilt officers collar badges. Attached to the lapel is miniature medals consisting of MBE, 1914-15 star, British War medal, Allied Victory medal and Jubilee medal. Accompanied by matching trousers. Set remains in good condition.

Presentation Bronze Military Figure of a Swedish Life Guard by Alfred Ohlson (1868-1940), Presented to a Swedish Officer who was Killed in Action During the Finish Civil War in 1918, fine example of a bronze figure of a officer from the Swedish Life Guards in full ceremonial uniform with parade busby and sword in hand. Mounted onto a polished marble plinth stand with silver plaque having engraved presentation, “MINNESGAFVA FRAN KUNGL GOTA LIFGARDES OFFICERSKAR TILL P. G. GLIMSTEDT 1888-1916”. The bronze is signed to the rear of the base “Alfred Ohlson” and has foundry mark for J G Hallberg. Figure stands 54 ½ cms including the base. We believe that the statue was presented by officers of the Swedish Life Guard regiment to Peter (Per) Gustav Glimstedt who was born in Stockholm in 1871. He was an officer in the Gota Life Guards. He served with the unit in the Congo between 1894-1898. He also served as an instructor to the Persian Gendarmerie. In February 1918 he went to Finland and served as an officer during the civil war, he was the first Swedish volunteer officer to be killed during the Finish Civil War on 28th February 1918.

Rare WW1 Ottoman Empire Turkish Pilots Badge, fine example constructed in un-marked silver and gilt metal. Winged crescent moon and star to the centre within gilt wreath and silvered bow to the bottom. Top with Tughra of Sultan Mehmed Reshad V. Pin and catch fixing to the reverse. Superb quality badge, probably made in Germany by one of the premier badge makers of the time. Ex Jerry Withers collection.

Imperial German Prussian Officers Belt & Buckle, untouched example of an officers dress belt in silver brocade with light blue cloth backing. Gilt Prussian officers belt buckle with cipher of Wilhelm II to the centre. Both brocade sliding tabs present to the belt. Some mothing to the backing cloth and brocade worn but gilt remains to the buckle.
