THE BEATLES - LOVE ME DO (UK ORIGINAL 45-R 4949). A lovely original UK copy of the fab four's debut 45 (Parlophone red labels/silver text 45-R 4949). Pressing with 'MADE IN GT. BRITAIN' at the 3 O'Clock position on both sides. The record is in 'fab' Ex+ condition with just a couple of extremely light and faint wispy surface markings. The labels are lovely and clean with the four pronged centre fully intact. Matrix/stampers: 7xce 17144-1N ZT 1 M & 17145-1N ZT 1 A. Complete with an original company sleeve in clean VG+ condition.

An exceptionally fine mid-Victorian Irish silver Presentation Claret Jug, Dublin c. 1873, by J.S., in the form of an Armada jug, the long neck and trigger hinged lid with C scroll handle, the profusely decorated body engraved and embossed with basket and swags of flowers, scrolls etc., and with winged figures, and central lions head, also with two shield shaped panels, one with inscription, 'Presented by the Waterford Tenantry to George Mansfield, Esq. on his marriage August 1877,' the other with crest and motto 'Mors Potior Macula' - (death rather than Infamy), raised on circular spreading foot, 38cms (15") high, approx. 35 ozs. A fine and important octagonal Irish George III silver gilt Presentation Snuff Box, of elongated form, the flush hinged cover engraved with the Arms of Sir Evan Nepean, surrounded by a band of ribbon tied garlands, the base engraved with Arms of Trinity College, Dublin, inside a band of flower heads and ovals,the sides engraved with foliate and rosette motifs, by Aeneas Ryan,Dublin c. 1803, marked on lid and body, approx. 4 ozs, c. 8.7cms long, 5.2cms wide. The Phoenix Rises Again An extremely rare and important 19th Century Irish cast iron Model of The Phoenix rising from the flames, in two parts, the flames approx. 41cms (16") high, 72cms (28") diameter, with the eagle, 52cms (20 1/2") high, and wing spread 98cms (38 1/2") wide, painted in silver and rust red. Provenance: Royal Phoenix Iron Works, Parkgate St., Dublin. The above was purchased by the father of the present owner over 80 years ago. It was mounted on the wall of the company's premises at 42b Parkgate Street, (later Lucan Dairy) and was removed in 1963 when the wall was demolished to make way for a filling station which was built on the site. The present example bears a striking resemblance to the 'Phoenix' mounted on the column on the main road in the Phoenix Park. Two others similar were located at the side gate of The Phoenix Lodge, which are illustrated in Thomas Milton's "Views of Seats and Demesnes of the Nobility and Gentry of Ireland," printed in 1783. The Phoenix Lodge became known later as The Viceregal Lodge, and later Aras an Uachtarain, the residence of The President of Ireland.
