Numbered 80A.The coffee pot and the sugar bowl have the marks "G. J.", which correspond to the period from 1933 - 1944; and "Denmark". Weight: 145 g.This vase is from the period in which John B. Jones created the company J. B. Jones & Co with another partner, which was active between 1833 and 1834.There is a milk jug with the same mark and from the same period kept in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, under the inventory number: RES.34.3.There is also a vase from the same period kept at the Massachusetts Historical Society.Jones’ company prospered, and despite going through various changes of partner, he continued to build a reputation as one of the two or three most prestigious silversmiths in Boston. A good gauge, good clear hallmarks. Very good quality decoration and overall a good example.
PETER & ANNE BATEMAN; a George III hallmarked silver twin handled cup with engraved initials above a fluted band, raised on a spreading circular foot, London 1802, height 14.5cm, approx. 11.6ozt/3060g.Provenance: The contents of a Cheshire Country House.Additional InformationThe foot is sealed to the underside, showing the stepped form, presumably this was done in manufacture, although could be a later addition, as it appears to form over the foot. The engraved initials are heavily worn to the piece and there is an old split to the body which has been repaired a long time ago. General surface tarnishing and toning throughout. Hallmarks legible but slightly obscured. Of good gauge.
