A Nuremberg nested cup-weight, 16 pound for The Netherlands, 17th century. Master sign 'arrow and key crossed + GS' = Georg Schüller, (1659-1667). Denomination on the lid '16 pound' and Troy lily (for weighing gold and silver). Filled with 10 cups (a few non original), filler missing. Body decorated with geometrical patterns, ornamental bands and a scroll with hunting scenes. Shackle with clasp decorated with sea creatures and horse heads. Handle decorated with sea creatures, hinging between 2 mermaids. Diam. 120 mm. total weight 7869 g. weight of the house 3940 g. (per pound 492 g.). In the drawers all kinds of powders and notes including one with opiates, a glass syringe, an hourglass, a thermometer, a measuring cup, a scale, a pipette, an ear syringe in a wooden spherical box with screw thread, three silver ear funnels and three mini bottles with cut stoppers and two glass cups with lids. Via a special pin on the front, a secret compartment at the back can be opened with four bottles, also with sharpened stoppers. The bottles in this travel pharmacy bear the designation of W.
