Family Group World War 1 Pair and Military Medal awarded to 2049 (later 835916) Driver Charles Pugh of the 311th (West Riding) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, who died aged 26 on March 6, 1924, the Military Medal was Gazetted on June 19, 1919. World War 1 Pair and Silver War Badge (B196786) awarded to 57688 Pte. Albert Edward Pugh Lancashire Fusiliers, who enlisted March 2, 1916, and was discharged as “not physically fit for war service” on March 26, 1918. He died aged just 20 on April 29, 1920. Both men were sons of Mrs Mary and the late Charles Pugh of Roe Lane Cottage, Seabridge, Newcastle-Under Lyme. They are buried in a family grave in Newcastle Under-Lyme cemetery. A photo of the dedication of the grave is included.
An antique oak 8-day Longcase Clock, John Nottle, Holsworthy, with two weight movement striking on a bell, the brass arched dial with Tempus Fugit and 'Reaper' automaton, silver chapter ring, subsidiary seconds and date aperture, the case with arched hood, blind fret decoration and pilasters, 228cm high.
Note; This lot is Bronze Resin not Bronze as originally catalogued. Lawson E. Rudge (b. 1936), a bronze resin sculpture of a Cow, with silver metallic finish, H 37cm. Provenance: from the studio of Lawson Rudge. Lawson Rudge trained at Stourbridge Art College, and then the Royal College of Art, where he was in the same year as David Hockney. Rudge settled in Morchard Bishop, Devon where, with his late wife Julie, he created a home and studio. During a successful career as a commercial ceramicist, Lawson Rudge became well known for his whimsical raku pottery sculptures, including flat cows and hares; Lawson has now retired to a home outside Exeter.

A German WW2 period German Cross, in Silver, unmarked version, probably by Deschler, with the standard four slightly domed rivets to the reverse side, wide tapering pin, enamel in good overall condition, some tarnishing to the metal, total weight 67.8g, in original fitted case which is in very poor condition.

World War I 1914-15 Star trio, to 1515 Pte C.V Dorman Cambridgeshire regiment. Charles Dorman enlisted in the Cambridgeshire Regiment on March 5, 1913 and went to France with them on July 10,1915. At some point he joined the 3rd Suffolks and was renumbered 325222. Whilst with the Suffolks he was wounded and was entitled to the Silver War Badge number B253377. He was discharged on March 21, 1919.

He served his as an apprentice for his father John Roger Arnold Senior and the famous Swiss watchmaker Abraham Louis Breguet. His father started the company Arnold & Son in 1787, and continued the business after his father's death in 1799. John became Master of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1817 and took John Dent into partnership between 1830 and 1840. After Arnolds death in 1843 the company was bought by Charles Frodsham.Case with surface scratches, case with dents in parts, inside back cover with date letter rubbed, dial with four hairline cracks coming from the centre out to the 3, 6, 9 and 11 o'clock positions, pendant with clear date letter, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement needs cleaning, movement in going order.

The base further stamped with maker's name. There are Dutch import marks. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some discolouration and cracking to the ivory insulators and finial. The original spacer from the finial is lacking and is replaced with a metal spacer.

The marks are generally clear. The silver border with some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use and with some minor warping where the panel has warped slightly. Each long edge with one fixing pin, which are probably later. The edges possibly originally gilt. The inside silver gilt border is probably earlier and runs the full size of the icon. There is a small area of damage around one fixing hole and to one bottom corner. Several of the fixing pins are lacking, though the icon underneath does not seem to have even had fixing pins fixed to it. The icon itself with discoloured varnish, crazing, losses and overpainting. The loss is most noticeable to the figure on the right of the icon. The panel is slightly warped.

There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some bruising to some fish-forks. There are some scuffs and scratches to the case.
