Gentleman's 18th Century Long Embroidered Cream Silk Waistcoat FRONTS, embroidered with flowers and foliage, flap pockets, partial collar, front button fastening, lined in cream silk; together with a Gentleman's Waistcoat of Salmon and Brown Vertically Striped Silk, Circa 1790 -1800, stand up collar, welted pockets and borders of a woven silk ribbon, front buttoning with two rows of twelve buttons, back panel double layers of coarse cream linen with draw cords at waist and lower levels, lining bears hand written label attributing ownership to P?. Papillon Esq. Crowhurst Park Sussex, hand sewn; a Gentleman's 19th Century Short Waistcoat, of purple woven silk with silver flowers and foliage, backed with brown cotton, lacing at waist level, interior lining of cream cotton throughout; and a Pair of Possibly 18th Century Gentleman's Cream Silk Satin Breeches, buttoning and small pocket to waistband, centre front drop down panel, draw cord to centre back, draw strings at knees, appliquéd with ruched silk ovals bordered with cerise pink silk velvet (4)Waistcoat fronts - Front embroidered panel showing repeated signs of wear, wear to collar, left hand panel with splitting, both panels of small areas of split silk. Striped silk waistcoat - underarms shattered, rear central seam opened to allow to for growth. Purple waistcoat - extremely worn to underarms and fronts, rear panel well nibbled. Breeches - some overall staining, silk a little rubbed, three different types of buttons used, knees have gussets added at a later date.

1930's Black Net Deep Shoulder Cape, with radiating beadwork in bronze, red and pale blue, neck bordered in similar beads, centre back reaching to the waist, shorter to the front, hook and eye fastening to neck; 1920's Long Beaded Necklace with Tassel (Satour), black beads intervened with five brightly coloured roundel beads; Early 20th Century Gold and Silver Coloured Mesh Bag, with gold coloured frame and chain, twist fastening surmounted by two blue stones; Late 19th / Early 20th Century Loom Woven Bag, in gold and silver shades, fringes, faux pearl fastening, interior bearing woven label 'Made in France'; together with Machine Made Tapestry Evening Bag, floral design, gilt metal frame and chain; a further Black Machine Embroidered Evening Bag, with roses to front, gilt metal frame, housing a matching coin purse and small black comb with white metal decoration; and a 1950's Beaded Clutch Bag, grey and faux pearl beads, press stud fastening, interior stamped ''Harlet Made in U.S.A'' (7)Shoulder cape - generally good condition.
1920's Assuit Shawl, white with silver coloured metal, geometric design, also known as an Azute shawl, a marriage shawl, an Egyptian shawl and a Money shawl, the latter in respect of the value of the silver metal contained in the design; together with Two Blue Mid-1920's Straw Cloche Hats (unused), bearing the French, (Paris) shop labels; a 1940's Navy Blue Straw Hat with unusual crown; and a Black Straw and Nylon Net Hat, bound in black velvet, probably 1950's (5)Shawl: side hems need securing in places, otherwise good. Hats in generally good order, some fading to one cloche.
Ladies 1920's Cream Coat, made from one/two Azute shawls, silver on cream, upper bodice densely decorated with the metal, the waist downwards decorated in bands of geometric designs, sleeves are likely to have been made from a second shawl, lined in cream silk, small collar and wide sleeves Provenance: The Henning Thorsen Collection, 2014, Kerry Taylor Auctions Light soiling in places. Couple of loose bits of metal. Overall good condition.
