Two boxed Edinburgh Academy silver Dux medals awarded to Charles Kenneth Mackinnon Douglas OBE, AFC (1893-1982) one dated 1908 the other 1911. C.K.M Douglas became one of the pioneers of modern meteorology beginning with his roots as Commander of Meteor Flight in 1918 where he observed cloud formations and measured windspeed from an aircraft. He became the senior forecaster during WW2 and was later awarded a Hugh Robert Mill Award by The Royal Meteorological Society in 1954 for lifetime achievement.
Irish Masonic Interest. Two masonic medals presented to J.A.U Gregg of the Londonderry lodges. The first a boxed silver gilt and enamel medal by Vaughton & Sons presented to E.Comp J.A.U Gregg by St John's R.A.C no 196. The other a silver and enamel medal dated 1938 and presented by Prov Grand Masters lodge no 52 (2)
Masonic Interest. Order of the Eastern Star silver gilt drop medal by George Kenning & Sons London awarded to Bro John G Findlay P.P by the Kilwinning lodge No55. An engraving to the reverse reads; "presented to Bro John G Findley P.P in appreciation of his services as worthy patron 1944-45.
Sterling silver scalloped cigar box by Mappin & Webb. The centre of the box is engraved with the regimental crest of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and below which is inscribed; "Presented by the Officers to Major G.S Beattie MBE on his retirement after thirty eight years service with the battalion 1912-1950". Surrounding this text are the signatures of the battalions officers expertly reproduced in the box' body.Condition:Inscriptions and hallmarks heavily rubbed. Numerous dents, the largest being to the top left and right hand corners. Interior wooden lip snapped off but present in box.
George V 1910-1935 Silver Jubilee chocolate tin with George V & Queen Mary in twin central medallions on a silver field with leaf border. The tin is complete with original chocolate by Rowntree with some silver foil covering present and comes with a card addressed to John W Menzies of Penpont Dumfriesshire.
