A good quality Victorian travelling dressing table box, the burr walnut brass bound box with inset brass detailing and Mordan & Co Patent lock, with green Morocco leather covered fitted interior with push-button to back to open a Morocco leather and green velvet fitted lidded drawer below for jewellery, the main interior with two walnut cube boxes and compartments to hold three hobnail cut glass perfume or oil bottles, and removeable tray with compartments to hold four rectangular hobnail cut glass trays, two circular hobnail cut glass jars and one taller circular jar, the glass with silver gilt lids with complex foliate and floral chasing, and with London hallmarks for John Howes, and date letters for 1855 (7 lids), 1856 (1 lid) and 1862 (2 lids), all the lids also engraved with 'IH' or 'IM' monogram, the lid interior fitted with original bevelled mirror, popping out to reveal a Morocco covered, silk lined letter sleeve, the lid with matching bras monogram, box 19.5cm high, 32cm wide, 24.8cm deep. (qty)Condition: In overall very good to excellent condition, given its age, and complete and apparently original. No dents and no splits to silver gilt tops, although there is some wear to the gilding on some of the lids, particularly on the edges. The hobnail cut pattern on some of the glass bottles and jars is chipped, particularly around the edges of the bases. The perfume bottles retain their glass stoppers, but one has a large chip. The Morocco leather is intact with no losses, but have been scratched by abrasion through use causing loss of surface in places. The ruched velvet to the mirror back in the lid interior has a couple of small tears, but the velvet elsewhere is intact and plush. The box is intact with no losses to the surface or the brass binding, but there is a crack running diagonally across the top of the lid and a couple of smaller crack to the back of the lid.
