Crowned title strap resting on laurel sprays, silver peacock mounted to voided centre. Stout pagri pin to reverse. VGC Originally raised in 1767 as 16th Bn. Coast Sepoys, became 13th Carnatic Bn. in 1769 renumbered 12th in 1770. 1784 became 12th Madras Bn. becoming 2nd Bn. 8th Regt. Madras Native Infantry in 1796. 1824 became 12th Regt. Madras Native Infantry, then 2nd Burma Bn. in 1890 and 12th Regiment of Madras Infantry in 1891. In the 1903 Kitchener reforms became the 72nd Punjabis.
Indian Army. 15th Bengal Lancers (Cureton’s Multanis) Officer’s waist belt plate circa 1890-1921. A good rare example by Ranken & Co. Seeded gilt rectangular plate with burnished rim mounted with silver crossed lances bearing “15” at their intersection. Fixed belt loop present, detachable belt loop now absent. A little service wear. 15th Bengal (Cureton’s Mooltanees) Cavalry in 1870 changed the colour of the uniform, from green with scarlet facings to blue with scarlet facings. In 1890 the regiment was redesignated as Lancers and the Regiment adopted the Lancer pattern of tunic and silver pouch.

Seeded gilt rectangular plate with raised burnished rim mounted with silver crown over crossed lances with seeded “8” on the intersection. Fixed belt loop present, detachable belt loop now absent. VGC 8th Bengal Lancers dropped “Bengal” on 1903 then redesignated 8th Cavalry in 1903 and amalgamated with 5th Cavalry in 1921
Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards George III Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1792-1807. A splendid rare example of modest proportions comprising a burnished gilt oval plate with applied raised beaded rim; mounted on the plate, a facetted silver Garter star; mounted on the star, a pierced gilt Garter on a blue enamel ground with red translucent enamel Cross of St.George to centre. Reverse with original fixings comprising two hooks and single central stud. Retains chamois liner which bears old ink inscription “Ensign Butler, Foot Guards”. VGC (Parkyn 65)

Irish Guards post 1900 Officer’s waist belt clasp. A fine and scarce gilt example of special pattern with matching numbers to both halves. Silvered circlet inscribed “Irish Guards” and ornamented with shamrock sprays; the seeded gilt centre mounted with silver Star of the Order of St.Patrick mounted with pierced gilt motto circlet on light blue enamel ground. To the voided centre, St.Patrick’s cross in red enamel on a white enamel ground. To the centre of the cross, a green enamelled shamrock with three gilt Crowns. Ornate ends ornamented with shamrock and Maid of Erin Harp. Minor defects to enamel, generally VGC.

Indian Army. Bombay Artillery pre 1858 Victorian Officer’s waist belt plate. A good rare example. Rectangular gilt plate mounted with silver laurel wreath; resting in the wreath, a gilt crowned silver scroll “Bengal Artillery” over a gun. Complete with fixed belt loop, detachable one now absent. Gilt worn. The entire HEIC army was transferred from the Company to the Crown on 1st November 1858 as a result of the Indian Mutiny.

GC Redesignated 122nd Rajputana Infantry under Kitchener’s 1903 reforms; then 6th Bn. 6th Rajputana Rifles in 1922.

Gilt rectangular plate with canted corners mounted with silver Garter Star with gilt overlay comprising a crowned pierced rope edged star “Regiment: resting in a laurel wreath. Floreated XXVIII to centre; pierced tri-part scroll across the base of the wreath inscribed “Nagpoor Ava Mahidpoor”. Reverse with top hook and flat horizontal loop to base. Generally VGC. 28th disbanded between 1862 and 1864. became 88th Carnatic Infantry in the 1903 Kitchener reforms; disbanded in 1920.

Gilt rectangular plate with canted corners mounted with silver star with squared tips; mounted on the star, a gilt elephant topped circlet “Assaye Seringapatam”, floreated VIII to green cloth centre. Reverse with pair of hook and studs and stamped with maker’s compass logo and JG. Wear to gilt otherwise VGC.

British made gilt rectangular plate mounted with silver Indian made overlay of crowned laurel wreath surrounding rope edged strap inscribed “Bengal Nat; Infantry”; “71” to gilt centre. Holes from previous overlay well plugged. Reverse with pair of hook and studs. Minor gilt loss. Crease mark to bottom right corner. GC Mutinied at Lucknow in 1857.
Indian Army. 3rd Madras Native Infantry (Palamcottah Light Infantry) Officer’s pre 1856 shoulder belt plate. A fine rare example. Rectangular gilt plate with canted corners mounted with silver star with squared tips; mounted on the star, a gilt crowned strap “Now or Never” with a Union wreath; domed centre mounted with silver coiled bugle with central “3”. Across the base of the star a bi-part scroll “Ava” and “Mahidpoor. Reverse with pair of hooks and studs. Wear to gilt otherwise VGC. Redesignated 3rd (Palamcottah) Madras Light Infantry in 1901.
Indian Army. 91st Punjabis (Light Infantry) Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1903-22. A fine die-stamped unmarked native silver example by P. Orr & Sons Ltd, of Madras and Rangoon. Within a crowned laurel wreath, mounted on the backing plate, crossed dhas set on a crowned strung bugle with “91” above and “Punjabis” scroll below. Four screw posts to reverse. The backing plate impressed “ORR”. VGC 31st Madras Light Infantry redesignated 31st Burma Light Infantry in 1901 and then as 91st Punjabis (Light Infantry) in 1903 following Kitchener’s reforms. Became 3rd Bn. 8th Punjab Regiment in 1922.

Hobnail Garter Star mounted crowned circlet resting an open laurel wreath with XXX at the base; to the centre, bi-part scroll “Burma Battalion” superimposed on the numeral “5”. The wreath resting in a tri-part scroll “Regiment Madras Infantry” which rests on a scroll inscribed “Afghanistan 1878-80”; the crown is flanked by scrolls “Ava” and “Burma”. Two screw posts to reverse. One or two ray tips AF, overall VGC. Became 90th Punjabis in the 1903 Kitchener reforms.
