Lot 1101

A mid 18th century ivory fan, the double paper leaf painted pale lilac, the gorge sticks matching. The upper guards, carved to reveal underlaid pink foil, are worked as a lattice and flowers. The recto depicts two ladies and a gentleman in the countryside, further rural scenes to the reserves. The verso shows a simple rural scene; together with a circa 1910 bone fan, the gauze leaf embroidered with gold and silver sequins and a Chinese late 19th century ivory fan mounted with a white gauze leaf embroidered with flowers, contained in a fitted fan box of black and gold lacquer (3). Sequin fan - the gauze extensively split. 18th century fan - badly foxed to the verso.
