Pagri pin to reverse, VGC (Cox 2722) Formed as Chota Nagpur Mounted Rifles on 7th August 1891; became the Chota Nagpur Light Horse on 2nd March 1910 and finally Chota Nagpur Regiment on 1st April 1917. To the centre, within a circlet inscribed “Queen Victoria’s Rifles”, St.George and the Dragon. Fitted with flat plate to reverse inscribed “Rfn. W.C. Wills. Best Signaller 23rd April 1928” Complete in its fitted, blue velvet lined case. VGC#11; Queen Victoria’s Rifles created from amalgamation of 1st and 19th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers in 1908. redesignated Queen Victoria’s Rifles, The King’s Royal Rifle Corps in 1937.

Badge. 72nd Highlanders Crimean War Period, Attributed Officer’s cased silver plaid brooch. A superb and rare example worn by Lieutenant The Honourable A. T. Fitzmaurice. Made by Lambert & Rawlings, Jewellers 12, Coventry Street, of the pattern introduced in 1852. Silver quoit engraved with Ducal Crown resting on “Hindoostan” scroll, thistle wreath,; to the base another scroll inscribed “Cape of Good Hope” with “ATF” monogram beneath. The centre set with a facetted glass foiled citrine, this can be removed for wear in undress. Retaining stout double pin fixing to reverse. Housed in its original fitted red leather case with domed lid. VGC Lieutenant The Honourable A. T. Fitzmaurice born 23rd Jan 1838 at Taplow, commissioned Ensign 1853 and advanced to Lieutenant the following year. Served in Eastern campaign in 1855 including expedition to Ketch, Siege of Sevastopol and attack of 18th June. Received Crimea Medal with clasp Sevastopol. Died 19th June 1894 aged 60.

King’s Royal Rifle Corps Officer’s silver mounted Pouch Belt. An extremely interesting example. Black patent leather 3 in. wide, bearing hallmarked silver ornaments by J & Co. Birmingham consisting of a whistle in its holder, three chains, chain-boss and Maltese Cross plate as Parkyn Fig 430, with crown above a scroll inscribed PENINSULA and displaying sixteen other battle-honours to “Nive” on the arms of the cross and the number 60 within the central strung bugle (hallmarked 1920). The lion’s head chain-boss is pierced with the motto “Celer et Audax” (hallmarked 1919). Companion pouch with 1890 hallmarked silver loops, mounted with a bugle-horn in white metal. Surface of patent leather somewhat defective , otherwise near VGC for age.

Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black velvet centre bearing silver and gilt rose. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver tri-part scroll “The York & Lancaster Regiment”. Three loops to reverse. VGC

The flap faced with blue cloth edged with silver lace as for line infantry sword-slings, and bearing the Royal Arms in embroidery above “3rd” and a scroll inscribed with the regimental title on crimson velvet. White metal suspension-loops. One loop absent, lace and embroidery dull. Moth Damage

The flap faced with blue cloth edged with silver RA pattern lace and bearing three guns in white metal below a crown, flanked by oakleaf and laurel sprays in silver embroidery. White metal suspension-loops. Lace and embroidery dull, some moth damage to cloth.
