A DIAMOND CIRCLET BROOCH, designed as a row of cushion-shaped old-cut diamonds in pinched collet settings, spaced by similarly set lasque-cut diamonds, two colour precious metal mounted, in Carrington & Co Ltd retailer's case, total weight of old-cut diamonds approximately 0.80ct, diameter 2.6cm Condition report: Old-cut diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, some stones with surface-reaching fractures and chips, with estimated H to K colour and SI1 to P3 clarity (due to chips), assessed mounted. Lasque-cut diamonds have variable colour and clarity, some greyish in appearance, some fractured or chipped, one stone possibly replaced. The mount has general wear and patchy tarnishing, with scuffs, nicks and chips. The pin is functioning but the safety catch may be later replaced. Metal standard is untested but possibly a gold/silver combination. Gross weight approx. 4.5gm.

A DIAMOND STAR BROOCH, centred with a tiered cluster of old-cut diamonds, bordered by rays of smaller old, single and lasque-cut diamonds, two colour precious metal mounted, with vacant threaded aperture and later brooch fitting, total diamond weight approximately 0.65ct, length 3cm Diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, some have surface-reaching fractures and chips, with estimated SI1 to P2 clarity and H to K colour, assessed mounted. Largest diamond weight approx. 0.10ct. The mount has surface wear, patchy thinning to the edges of the setting and tarnishing. The pin is later added, difficult to operate and the safety clasp doesn’t fully open. The mount has a vacant threaded aperture for prior use of a detachable fitting. Metal standard is untested but possibly a gold/silver combination. Gross weight approx. 4.2gm.

A LATE 19TH CENTURY OPAL AND DIAMOND BROOCH/CLASP, centred with an oval cabochon opal and rose-cut diamond cluster, within an openwork border of cushion-shaped old-cut diamonds in pinched collet settings, between similarly set scrolled shoulders, (three later replaced white stones), the reverse with detachable brooch fittings and vacant clasp fittings, gold and silver mounted, total weight of old-cut diamonds approximately 0.60ct, length 3.2cm Condition report: The opal has a subtle play of colour, with soft pink, green and blue shades to a whiteish ground. The surface has scuffs, nicks and small chips and the opal measures approx. 13mm length x 9.5mm width x 3.9mm depth. Diamonds are lively but with variable colour and clarity, some stones with surface-reaching fractures and chips, estimated SI1 to P2 clarity and H to L colour, assessed mounted. Three white stones are later replaced. The panel has considerable wear, with splits, solder repairs and thinning to the edges of the setting. The fittings differ in colour and may be later added. The pin is functioning. Gross weight approx. 7.4gm.

A PAIR OF RUBY AND DIAMOND CLUSTER EAR STUDS, each designed as a flowerhead cluster, centred with a cushion-shaped ruby bordered by lasque-cut diamonds, on post fittings, diameter 0.95cm Condition report: Rubies are well matched, of mid pinkish-red hues, one stone with an area of iridescent ‘silk’ inclusions, both stones with surface wear and facet edge abrasion. Each measures approx. 3.5mm to 3.7mm in length/width. Diamonds have a greyish, fractured/chipped appearance. The mounts have surface wear, nicks and scuffs and patchy tarnishing. Metal standard is untested, but possibly gold and silver. The post fittings may be later replaced. Gross weight approx. 2.5gm.
