A 19th century Spanish miquelet percussion belt carbine with belled muzzle, by Francisco Barreneckea, Eibar, 25” overall, 2 stage barrel 13”, the octagonal breech impressed with maker’s poincons, 3 gold inlaid marks (worn), and a calvary cross, also with faint traces of silver inlaid maker’s name; the lock signed in flowing script; plain walnut half stock with ‘Catalan’ butt; brass mounts, the trigger guard bow deeply embossed with grotesque mask; with 6” steel belt hook on left side, and replacement ramrod. GC (action fails to hold on full cock, scrolled hand grip lacking from rear of trigger guard). Note: Neal lists this maker c 1846. Plate 12

A group of seven WWI and later German medals, comprising 1914 Iron Cross 2nd class; Saxon Friedrich August medal; Saxon gilt Ehrenkreuz with swords; bronze 1914-1918 Honour Cross with swords; gilt 15 years gilt service cross; Third Reich Faithful Service decoration in silver; and 1914 Iron Cross 1st class, the first six mounted on a bar with ribbons as worn, also a ribbon bar with gilt swords on the appropriate ribbons, together with award certificates for the Friedrich August medal (October 1915) and Ehrenkreuz with swords (August 1916), to Vizefeldwebel Bruno Lippmann of the 2nd Grenadier Regiment No 101, and a quantity of hand written and typed correspondence relating to the award of the 1st class Iron Cross, which was finally approved on 1st September 1920, for which there is a typed and stamped award certificate. GWO&C (specks of pitting to barrel, trigger guard slightly pitted, hole in ramrod throat pipe, frizzen spring and ramrod good replacements). Plate 18 .

Nock’, fullstocked with finely chequered rounded butt, rectangular escutcheon, steel mounts, and replacement ramrod. GWO & basically GC (mounts lightly pitted, 2½” of fore end well replaced, some bruising to butt); in a fitted wooden box with brass carrying handle and key (lock AF). Pistol only Plate 19 .

A composite DB 40 bore flintlock coaching pistol, 13½” overall, thick heavy damascus barrels 8½” spuriously engraved ‘London’, the flat stepped locks signed ‘Bond’ and having swan neck cocks, rainproof pans and roller on frizzen springs; fullstocked with steel mounts including pineapple finial to trigger guard and oval silver escutcheon. GWO & QGC (the barrels appear to be from a sporting gun or rifle, part of the fore end replaced, some other restoration) .
