Original vintage London Transport travel poster London's Open Air City Gardens. LONDON'S OPEN AIR No. 2 City Gardens London has many unexpected gardens. Bright yet casual, they redeem the desolation of war, they set off the soot and the silver of city stone. Withat shadow of St. Paul's. by St. James's in Piccadilly, at Finsbury Circus, at Lincoln's Inn, they give sanctuary from the thronging pavements; they offer space where the din of the streets is made softer and less compelling by the colour of flowers and by flowering shrubs leaf-shadowed on unexpected grass. For those who want a wider scene, Victoria Tower Gardens and the narrow stretch of Tower Wharf offer riverside gardens overlooking the barges sweeping down and the stir and flurry of the ebbing tide. The Londoner knows and enjoys these simple and unaffected places. Enjoy the open air, but please avoid the rush hours. Good condition, creases on margins, tears on top. Country: UK. Year: 1948. Designer: Antony Lake. Size(cm): 101.5 x 63.5

Original vintage London Transport travel poster London's River. LONDON'S RIVER The Thames is a gateway on the world, sweeping into London from the Nore with a tide of white gulls to remind the Londoner of his heritage. But in providing a highway to the far oceans for the docks and warehouses the river gives London not only its greatness but much of its beauty. He who pauses on one of its many bridges can see the silver grey City rising above the sparkling water, he can discover the full majesty of St. Paul's above unexpected masts. He can watch the busy traffic of the river, the tugs with their broken necklaces of barges, dipping their funnels as they pass beneath. And he can enjoy the pleasure of a trip on the river - downstream through the Pool to the seaward shipping, or upstream, all urgency forgotten, curving among the meadows into the heart of England.
