A WILLIAM III BRITANNIA STANDARD SILVER TWIN HANDLED PORRINGERWILLIAM ANDREWS, LONDON 1701With twin beaded scroll handles, a rope twist band, engraved with an armorial, a half spiralling lobed body and engraved H over RS beneath16cm (6 1/4in) long188g (6.05 oz) These are possibly the arms of the BOUTVILLEYNE family of Cottesbrook Hall, Northamptonshire. Later records of the family also include settlement in Northumberland. The family name has been used in a number of variants that include: BUTVILLAIN, BUTWILLAM, BONTVILLAIN, BUTVILLEYNE. The origin of their arms is medieval. Unfortunately in this period few details of crests are given, which means that confirmation of the owner is not possible. In England he married twice: Firstly in 1840 the widow Miriam HAY nee POOLE (1818-1842) daughter of Joseph Ellison Poole (1786-1841) by Mary Ann MILLS (1795-1830); Secondly in 1851 Harriet FARRAR (1824-1890) the daughter of James HAY (1795-1830) of Elland, Yorkshire. As a young man he moved to the North East settling in Cleveland, where he jointly established furnaces for iron production on Teesside. Later in 1864 forming the firm Bocklow-Vaughan. He was naturalised by act of Parliament in 1841 and served as MP for Middlesbrough 1868-1878. A GEORGE III SILVER TEA CADDY EDWARD ALDRIDGE, LONDON 1768 With a baluster finial to the gadrooned domed cover, the cover engraved with a crest, the body engraved with an armorial and on four scrollwork feet 16.5cm (6 1/2in) high 270g (8.7 oz)The paternal arms are for the ARCHER family of Warwickshire. The arms were granted in 1685 to Robert ARCHER (1647-1700) of Wainfleet Lincolnshire and Tanworth Warwickshire. The Wainfleet branch of the family, moved to Wood Bevington manor, Alcester in Warwickshire and Robert's son Joseph died there in 1715, his family remaining there until after 1791. It is likely to be his son John ARCHER, who was of Alcester at his death in 1791, who is the owner of the paternal arms at the time of assay (1768).  The blazon: azure, three arrows or (Archer).
