Interesting late 19th / early 20th century set of six Russian silver salts of circular form, with cloisonné enamel floral decoration and six matching spoons in a fitted wooden case with presentation plaque engraved - Giorgina, five salts and spoons stamped with 84 Zolotnik Standard with initials of St. Petersburg Assay Master Lakov Liapunov, one salt with mark of Alexander Lubavin beneath the Imperial Crown with 88 Zolotnik Standard and same St. Petersburg Assay Master, each salt 4cm diameter. N.B. It is believed these salts were originally presented by the Czar to General Roberto Morra, the Italian Ambassador to St. Petersburg between 1897 and 1904 and were then given to Zina, Donna Giorgina Santostefano della Cerda, who had helped nurse the Ambassador's son Umberto CONDITION REPORT General overall condition reasonably good, all pieces are badly tarnished, enamelling appears to be in good condition but there may be some minor damage presently obscured by tarnish and polish - marks clear. Case in reasonable condition, purple velvet is in good condition but silk lining is marked and hinge covers are worn and split. Exte rior iscr acked in places and stained.
