An excellent, large signed 16 x 20 photograph, the image depicting the young Law standing in a three quarter length profile pose opposite Manchester United manager Matt Busby who holds a jersey up to his new player. Signed by Law in bold black fountain pen ink to the lower white border, 'The Boss welcomes me to Old Trafford in 1962. Best wishes, Denis Law'. A very fine signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX  Law joined Manchester United in August 1962 for a British Record Transfer fee of £115,000. He was brought to Old Trafford by Busby, the man who had given him his Scotland debut nearly four years earlier. Law is best known for the 11 years he spent at United, scoring 237 goals in 404 appearances, second only to Bobby Charlton. Law holds a United record for scoring 46 competitive goals in a single season.

A good, large signed 16 x 20 photograph, the dramatic goal mouth image depicting Law lying on the pitch as he watches the football fly past the opposing goal keeper and into the back of the net during a match at Old Trafford in the 1960s. Signed by Law in bold black fountain pen ink with his name alone to the lower white border. An excellent signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX Law scored 237 goals in 404 appearances for Manchester United during an eleven year spell at the club and is second only to Bobby Charlton in the club's goal scoring chart. Law also holds the United record for scoring 46 competitive goals in a single season.

Signed by Law in bold black fountain pen ink with his name alone to the lower white border. A fine signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX Manchester United beat Ipswich Town 1-0 in this match, Law recording one of 237 goals for the club.

Signed by both Best and Law in bold black fountain pen inks with their names alone to the lower white border. A fine signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX The present image was captured during a Division One match between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, circa 1966.

A good, large signed 16 x 20 photograph depicting the Everton footballer in a jubilant half length pose celebrating with his team mates and the FA Cup trophy during a lap of honour following Everton's victory over Watford in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on 19th May 1984. Signed by Gray in bold black fountain pen ink to a clear area at the head of the image, 'My favourite picture! Good Luck, Andy Gray', also adding the date of the occasion, 19th May 1984, in his hand. An excellent signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX Everton beat Watford 2-0 in the FA Cup Final, Gray scoring the second of his teams goals in a memorable fashion in the 51st minute.

MACKAY DAVE: (1934-2015) Scottish Footballer, a member of Tottenham Hotspur's Double winning side of 1961. An excellent, large signed 20 x 16 photograph, a classic image of Mackay standing in a full length pose on a football pitch as he grabs opponent Billy Bremner of Leeds United by his jersey in a threatening manner. The referee can be seen running to the incident blowing his whistle as Terry Venables also looks on. Signed by Mackay in bold black fountain pen ink to the lower white border and also signed in black fountain pen ink by photographer Monte Fresco to the lower white border. A fine signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX The present image was captured during the opening match of the season at White Hart Lane on 20th August 1966 which Tottenham Hotspur won 3-1. Regarded as one of the most iconic images in football, Mackay himself did not like the picture, thinking that it unfairly represented him as 'a bully'. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR: An excellent, large signed 20 x 16 photograph by seven members of the Tottenham Hotspur football team of 1962 individually, the image depicting the eleven players and manager Bill Nicholson standing and seated together in two rows at the side of a training pitch on 3rd August 1962 during a pre-season photocall. The FA Cup trophy can be seen in the foreground. Signed by Peter Baker, Maurice Norman, Bill Brown, Ron Henry, Terry Medwin, Dave MacKay and Jimmy Greaves individually, each in bold black fountain pen inks with their names alone to the lower white border. A fine signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX Most of the players who signed the present image were members of Tottenham Hotspur's historic Double winning team of 1960-61, winning the league and beating Leicester City 2-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 6th May 1961. Greaves joined Spurs in December 1961 shortly after the Double had been achieved, however he did play an important role in the team retaining the FA Cup in 1961-62.

Signed by McMenemy in bold black fountain pen ink to the lower white border, 'The class of '81, Best wishes, Lawrie McMenemy' and also signed by four of the players, Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Mick Channon and Dave Watson individually, each with their names alone in bold black fountain pen inks to the lower white border. An excellent signed silver gelatin fibre based photograph of high quality. EX In the 1980-81 season Lawrie McMenemy's Southampton side fielded an attractive team featuring European Footballer of the Year Kevin Keegan, former World Cup winner Alan Ball and club stalwart Mick Channon. The team finished in sixth place, their then highest league finish, scoring 76 goals.

A good, large vintage unsigned 9 x 14 photograph by the studio of Pietro Paolo Bertieri of Torino, the gelatin silver print depicting Puccini in a half length pose. Bearing the Studio Bertieri circular blindstamp to the lower edge of the green card mount. Some pinholes to the edges of the mount and the lower two corners of the mount neatly clipped. G

ROTHSCHILD NATHAN MEYER: (1777-1836) Jewish German Banker, Businessman and Financier, one of the second generation of the Rothschild Banking Dynasty. D.S., N M Rothschild, in his capacity as contractor, in the right margin, two pages, folio, n.p. (London?), 1st March 1822. The printed document, in Russian, French and English, is a financial certificate 'of a perpetual Annuity in the Great Book of the Public Debt of the Imperial Commission of the Sinking Fund, representing a Capital of Seven Hundred and Twenty Silver Roubles…', equal to £111. With various decorative engravings to either side and a number of official stamps, including two stating Coupons Delivered in London, dated 1834 and 1846. Some light overall age wear and some splitting at the central horizontal fold (neatly repaired with clear tape to the verso). G The present Russian bond of1822 is widely recognized by Economic historians as being the first Eurobond. Issued by the House of Rothschild in London, Frankfurt, Paris and Vienna, the bond promised payment in European currencies, as well as in Russian rubles. Perhaps more importantly, dividends could be claimed in any of the aforementioned cities, effectively protecting the bondholder from the effects of a continental war . Missing from the bond are the original coupons which would have been clipped and exchanged for payment. Although titled an annuity, the 1822 issue was in fact a perpetuity, a promise by Russia to pay a dividend to the bondholder forever, or at least until the Revolution of 1917.

KEYNES JOHN MAYNARD: (1883-1946) British Economist, a member of the Bloomsbury Group of intellectuals. T.L.S., J M Keynes, one page, 4to, Gordon Square, Bloomsbury, 21st February 1937, to Leon M. Lion. Keynes announces 'Perhaps you will have seen that we are bringing our production of the Misanthrope to the Ambassadors' and adds that he hopes Lion will be able to see it, remarking 'Let me know if I can send you tickets for one evening'. Professionally matted in burgundy and grey alongside a portrait and framed and glazed in a silver coloured wooden frame to an overall size of 18.5 x 14.5. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG Leon M. Lion (1879-1947) English Stage and Film Actor. Keynes took an interest in literature and drama and was a keen supporter of the arts. Having married Russian ballet dancer Lydia Lopokova (1892-1981) in 1925, Keynes financed all the productions in which she appeared, including her role as Celemine in The Misanthrope, referred to in the present letter.

[WALLIS WINDSOR]: (1895-1986) American Socialite, wife of Edward, Duke of Windsor. A colourful necklace previously owned by the Duchess of Windsor, the 60" long necklace constructed of faux pearls in runs of four and seven separated by glass beads of various colours (red, blue and green) and with a silver coloured metal clasp bearing diamante stones (a few missing). The necklace is possibly a creation of the American costume jewellery designer Kenneth Jay Lane. Contained in a later blue leather folding presentation case. VG Provenance: Originally sold at auction by Christie's in Rome as part of their sale of the property of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, 17th June 2004. The necklace was illustrated in their catalogue as lot 621 and copies of the relevant pages are included with the present lot. Kenneth Jay Lane (1932- ) American Costume Jewellery Designer who first came to public attention after the Duchess of Windsor purchased several of his pieces and recommended him to her friends. The Duchess was rumoured to have been buried wearing one of his belts. Lane's other clients included Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn.

LAVAL ERIK DE: (1888-1973) Swedish Pentathlete, Olympic Silver Medallist, 1920. Vintage signed and inscribed 10 x 14 photograph of Laval in a head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform. Photograph by Dorys of Warsaw and bearing his blindstamp in the lower left corner. Signed by Laval in dark fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount, in his capacity as Swedish Military Attache. Dated Warsaw, June 1937 in his hand. Together with Eva Erika Edith von Studnitz (1901- ) Polish wife of Lieutenant General Bogislaw von Studnitz (1888-1943). Vintage signed and inscribed 10 x 14 photograph of von Studnitz in a head and shoulders pose. Signed in fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount and dated Warsaw, 1937 in her hand. Book signed, a hardback edition of The Spirit of St Louis, First Edition of the Presentation Edition published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1953 (First Issue with the Scribner's A printed on the copyright page). Signed by Lindbergh in bold black fountain pen ink to the colophon page and numbered 621 of an unspecified (although 1000) limited edition. Blue ink signature ('Buzz Aldrin') on an oblong 12mo slip of paper, with the printed caption 'Buzz Aldrin Walked on the Moom July 20, 1969' at the head, double matted in black and white alongside a souvenir Apollo XI mission patch and medallion and a colour 15.5 x 11.5 photograph of Aldrin standing on the moon in his white spacesuit.
