An undated, circa 1920s Glamorgan County Football Club awarded to Tommy Johnson (see provenance for Lot 1 & 2), rugby cap in purple velvet with silver braiding and tassel, GCFC to the peak and with embroidered dragon to the front. First gaining representative honours with Welsh Schools in 1907. Johnson won his first full international cap for Wales in 1921 against England. As a wing or full back he played 12 matches in total for the principality, infamously appearing in the first ever defeat against the New Zealand All Blacks at Swansea in 1924. 'Codger' played the majority of his club football with Cardiff making 187 appearances and captaining the side in the 1924-5 season. It is also recorded that he played for Penarth and Newport. The lots have been consigned to the auction by the maternal grandson of Tommy
