King’s Commendation For Valuable Service in the Air An extremely scarce WW2 example of the silver pin back badge. The reverse stamped ‘Silver’ with the registration number “R.D. 847363” GC. Instigated in 1942 and awarded to civilians, who had rendered valuable service in the Air. This award could also be worn on military uniform, usually after the medal ribbons. The Award was discontinued in 1993.
Badge. Machine Gun Corps Officer’s 1919 Silver Hallmarked Cap Badge. A fine and scarce small version. Die-cast crowned crossed Vickers Machine Guns bearing Birmingham hallmarks for 1919 retailed through Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street and made by Bent & Parker. Retaining three loops.
Napoleonic War Bethnal Green Volunteers Medal 1814 in Silver. A fine cased silver example by P. Wyon. The obverse depicts the figure of Victory by a pillar, under his feet a dragon, with the text, “England’s perseverance dethroned Bonaparte”. The reverse: an oak and laurel victory wreath with text, “Bethnal Green Volunteer Infantry, Lt. Col. Carrick, Enrolled 13 Aug. 1803 and disembodied at the general peace of Europe, 24th June 1814”. Diameter 5cm. Contained in a double glazed ebony frame.
Mid 19th Century Royal Artillery Volunteer Officer’s Victorian Full Dress Pouch Belt. A scarce example, the Pouch of blue leather, with blue cloth faced flap, this edged with silver lace and embroidered with a crown above three small Guns in silvered metal, flanked with laurel and oakleaf sprays. The blue leather belt with wide silver RA pattern lace and ornate silvered buckle, tip and slide, the tip bearing a burnished grenade. Lace slightly dull, otherwise GC.
WW1 Royal Garrison Artillery Pair Medals Plus 1917 Diary and Ephemera. An intersting group awarded to Frank Chapman, who recieved a double issue of the Silver War Badge, having been previously discharged from the Coldstream Guards, before re-enlisting to the RGA. Comprising: British War Medal, Victory Medal, “286226 GNR F. CHAPMAN R.A” ... 1917 hand written diary ... 2x Certificates for the award of Silver War Badge ... Solder’s Service Book (Coldstream Guards) ... Plus other ephemera. Overall GC ... Accompanied by a second group possibly awarded to his son. Comprising Defence Medal, War Medal, Civil Defence Long Service Medal, 1977 EIIR Silver Jubilee Medal & Certificate “Frederick Frank Chapman”. Medals loose, last two in boxes of issue. Frank Chapman, originally enrolled into the 4th Bn Coldstream Guards on the 2nd January 1914, he was discharged on the 3rd October 1914 as physically unfit for war service. He was awarded the Silver War Badge in 1916 the Roll confirms no overseas service. It appears that Frank then re-enlisted this time into the RGA in June 1917, his diary records some of the events. However he was once again disharged in Octber 1918 and was awarded a second silver war badge. He is confirmed as serving overseas.
Badge. Scottish. Gordon Highlanders Officer’s 1938 hallmarked silver glengarry badge. A good example by T.E (Thomas Kerr Ebbutt) bearing Edinburgh hallmarks. Within an ivy wreath bearing the legend “Bydand” across the base, the the crest of the Marquis of Huntly (issuing from a ducal coronet a stag’s head and antlers in high relief). Two loops to reverse. Service wear. GC
Irish Guards Regimental Music stand drape. A superb and rare example, used by the Regimental Band of the Irish Guards. To the centre Order of St. Patrick Star embroidered in silver bullion and coloured silks onto a drape of blue and red cloth of the Guards Division. Edged with bullion tassels. The drape retains original suspension pole, with turned finials. VGC.
Badge. Scottish. Seaforth Highlanders Warrant Officer’s 1917 hallmarked silver glengarry badge. A good die-cast two part example by B & P (Bent and Parker) bearing Birmingham hallmarks. Stag’s head in high relief over separate ‘Cuidich’n Rich’ scroll. Stout pin to reverse of each. VGC
Queen’s Own Highlanders Pattern Pipers Sporran. A good quality modern example, the plated cantle with simulated black leather, this mounted with a Regimental badge. White goats hair with two black hair tassels with silver plated bells. The reverse with leather backing and dated 1989. VGC.
