A 1930`s silver hip flask with engine turned decoration, rectangular vacant cartouche and screw down locking lid. Hallmarked William Neale & Son Birmingham 1934, registered number 649007. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm) weight 3.4 ozt (106 grams). Condition: There are general surface marks and scratches and a little bit of tarnishing in places. The scratches are more noticeable on the areas of plain silver, for example the edges and small rectangular vacant cartouche. The engine turned decoration is generally okay, there is a very small patch of more evident rubbing to the lower centre of the reverse. There is some more evident wear and edge knocks to the corners and other minor nicks elsewhere. The screw down locking lid is in good working order. Hallmarks to underside are rubbed so that date letter is partly obscured, also maker`s marks rubbed. Flask is also hallmarked near to the lid, these are rubbed but still legible.

A 1930`s silver cigarette case with engine turned decoration and gilt interior, hallmarked London 1931, measuring 10 cm by 8.5 cm. Together with a smaller 1920`s example also with engine turned decoration and monogrammed circular cartouche, hallmarked Birmingham 1922, measuring 8 cm by 6.5 cm. Gross combined weight 203 grams. (2). Condition: The larger 1930`s case has general all over surface marks and scratches, to the interior and exterior. Some of these scratches are slightly deeper and more noticeable. The engine turned decoration is generally okay, although there is some rubbing and wear to the four corners. The hinges and clasp are in good working order. The full set and part set of hallmarks are clear. There is some rubbing to the maker`s marks but they are still legible.The smaller case also has general all over surface marks and scratches. Some of these scratches are deeper and more evident. There is also a little tarnishing in places. There is considerable all over wear and rubbing to the engine turned decoration, especially around the circular cartouche. There are some edge knocks to the corners and other small dints/nicks in the metal. The hinges and clasp are in good working order. The full set and part set of hallmarks are very clear.

Maker`s mark rubbed but still legible.

Early twentieth century silver coin purse, vertical engine turned decoration with circular vacant cartouche, attached chain and finger ring, the hinged case opening to reveal a tan leather compartmentalised interior. Hallmarked E J Trevitt & Sons Chester 1913. Maximum width measuring 67 mm. Condition: General wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age of the item. Some slightly deeper scratches and minor dents and some wear to the engine turned decoration. The clasp is working well but the purse does not shut completely tight. Hallmarks and maker`s marks are worn but still legible, part hallmark on other side is clear. The leather interior is torn and marked in places.

George IV silver mounted children`s rattle, the shaped and engraved body with whistle, suspended bells, one deficient, and coral teething aid. Hallmarked Joseph Taylor Birmingham 1825. Length measuring 12.5 cm. Condition: There are general minor surface marks and scratches and wear commensurate with the age of the item. More visible scratches and nicks on the mouthpiece of the whistle. There is one bell deficient and the link that would have held it is broken. There is some wear to the other links, one in particular is shorter than the others. Some of the bells have minor dents. There is slight discolouration to the top of the coral teething aid (where it is fixed in the silver mount). Hallmarks are slightly rubbed but still very clear - further maker`s mark to mouthpiece of whistle.

Length measuring 13 cm. Condition: The rattle displays general wear commensurate with the age and use. There are surface marks and scratches and a little tarnishing. The whistle mouthpiece is leaning slightly to one side. There are some minor dints/nicks, especially to some of the bells and other decoration. There are remnants of old polish. Hallmarks are slightly rubbed but still clear and legible. Maker`s marks rubbed and illegible - possibly a T.

Condition: The bud vase and napkin ring are like new, the letter opener has some light surface scratches and the circular end looks to have been repaired and bends slightly. The port label has a small section of deep scratches to the reverse. All pieces are hallmarked A J Poole, Birmingham, dated between 2001 and 2010.

Condition: The tool displays general wear commensurate with the age and use. There are general surface marks and scratches. The two prongs of the pick are leaning slightly to one side. The needle is slightly wonky. Full hallmarks are very clear as are part hallmarks on pick. The standard mark on the needle is very worn so that it is now very faint.

Hallmarked Adie Brothers Ltd, Birmingham 1933. Condition: The pieces are in a fair condition, with some tarnishing in places, also general wear and tear scratches and some small dints. There are some nicks to the edges and one of the brushes has small section of little scratches to one end. The silver comb mount is slightly misshapen all the way along. And there is an item that seems to be part of a small possible pill box with a gilt interior, the interior is quite bright with small spots of tarnishing and slightly rubbed top edges.

Gross silver weight 7.6 ozt (236 grams). Condition: The napkin rings are in a variable condition, there are general scratches, marks ad variable amounts of tarnishing. Three of the napkin rings are displaying noticeable dints and dents. As mentioned in the description nearly all have initial engravings. Again there is some variance but overall the hallmarks are clear and legible. The silver plated example would benefit from being re-plated.

The material also with general wear in keeping with the age and use with rubbing and discolouration. Some of the pins holding the silver to the wooden and material mounted base are missing and some may well be replacements. There has been crude repairs to the easel back. The hallmarks are clear and legible.

A modern silver pill box of rectangular form with engine turned decoration, opening to reveal a gilt interior. Hallmarked Birmingham 1982 with makers mark PJD, length measures 36 mm. Together with a further modern pill box of square form with engraved acanthus leaf decoration to the lid. Stamped to the base with STERLING 925 and London import marks dated 1979. Gross weight 43 grams. (2). Condition: The two modern pill boxes have general light surface wear and tear scratches. The engine turned pill box is in a better condition out of the two, the lid closes flush, the hidden hinge is in good working order, there are some areas of tarnishing. The gilt interior is in a very good condition. There are corresponding hallmarks to the lid and main body, both are clear and legible. The square pill has some small patches of tarnishing, the hinge is in good working order, the lid does not close quite flush. There are some numbers lightly scratched to the inside of the box. The engraved decoration shows good detail.

A modern silver pill box of hinged rectangular form, engine turned decoration and gilt interior. Hallmarked D. Bros Birmingham 1970. Measuring 35 mm by 22 mm, weight 1.8 grams. Condition: The pill box is in good overall condition, it does display general scratches, marks and tarnishing. Discolouration visible to the gilt interior. The hallmarks are clear and legible.

Lot 351

George III circular hinged embossed silver box, the body with a textured and diaper rim with acanthus and scroll border, the front with a seated gentleman and the base with vacant cartouche and gilt interior. The base only hallmarked London 1808 with the makers mark TB. Diameter measuring 55 mm, weight 38 grams. Condition: The box is quite badly tarnished and there are general surface marks, scratches and wear commensurate with the age of the item. These scratches are more noticeable on the underside and to the gilded interior. There does appear to be some wear to the embossed decoration, in particular to the seated man, otherwise it is generally okay. The hinged lid and clasp are working well so that it closes tightly, however there is a slight gap when closed. The hallmarks are rubbed, mainly the date letter, however they are still legible.

The mounts show general scratches, marks with noticeable discolouration and lines and would benefit from being re-gilded. both mounts have the Minerva mark and the makers mark which is partly distorted but visible as B with a wreath and possibly a further letter, the Minerva head also rubbed to the lid.
