A 42 bore percussion boxlock pocket pistol, converted from flintlock, 7¾” overall, turn off barrel 2¼”, London proved, the undecorated frame engraved “Bennett, Royal Exchange, London”, the walnut slab butt having silver escutcheon bearing traces of crest and initials. FC (action AF, top strap incomplete).
A good quality 14 bore percussion boxlock sidehammer belt pistol by J. Beattie, c 1850, 11½” overall, octagonal barrel 6” signed “J Beattie, 205 Regent St, London”, and with swivel ramrod beneath, London proved, with scroll engraved frame, flat hammer engraved with serpent and with unusual cylindrical hammer nose, the top strap and trigger guard also engraved with scrolls and serpents, and with 3½” belt hook on left side, the finely chequered walnut butt having vacant oval silver escutcheon and scroll engraved butt cap with trap. GWO & basically GC (ramrod a crude replacement, rust stained with some pitting). Plate 14

Lang c 1850, 12¾” overall, sighted octagonal twist barrel 6½” with swivel ramrod beneath, London proved, the signed bolted back action lock engraved with scrolls and wavy border, the chequered walnut butt having vacant oval silver escutcheon, scroll engraved sideplate which originally held the belt hook (now missing), and butt cap with trap. GWO & clean condition, retaining hints of original finish. Plate 14
A good DB 16 bore percussion holster pistol by Westley Richards, c 1850, 12½” overall, browned twist barrels 7” engraved on the rib “Westley Richards, 170 New Bond St, London”, with signed scroll engraved bolted locks, walnut fullstock with rounded chequered butt and horn fore end cap, vacant silver escutcheon, blued and engraved steel trigger guard, and swivel ramrod. GWO & generally crisp condition, retaining some original browned, blued and colour hardened finish overall (one hammer spur missing, slight bruising to the stock).
