Military Interest: A silver rectangular inkstand of capstan form, the hinged cover reveals two hinged inkwells, the front with presentation inscription Officers Regimental Depot (Cameronians Scottish Rifles) LIEUT. An early 19th century poured wax shoulder-headed doll, with blue glass eyes and pale blonde hair, cloth over composition (?) upper body, cloth lower body, cloth upper limbs with wax lower limbs in an exquisite ivory silk dress finely embroidered in silver and gold metal thread and decorated with chenille flowers and foliage, trimmed with lace to the collar, bodice, wrists and hem, the dress inset cotton panel at the back, original white cotton undergarment trimmed with lace. 20in. (51cm.) high. Crack to shoulder plate; forefingers on both hands missing; chip to left heel and cracks to left leg. Shattering to silk dress.
A mid-19th century poured wax shoulder-headed doll, with blue glass eyes and light brown hair, cloth body and upper limbs with wax lower limbs in plain blue cotton dress and underskirt with a white cotton hat trimmed with blue silk ribbon, white cotton cape and apron, around her neck is a blue silk ribbon with a silver threepenny piece dated 1822; and wearing three layers of original undergarments. 17in. (43cm.) high. Cracks to shoulder plate at back; right foot mis-shapen. One knitted shoe missing.
A good Japanese Komai bottle vase, with slender, everted neck, decorated in thick, rich gold nunome with two crows perched in the branches of a spreading pine tree, bands of prunus and bamboo around the foot in silver and gold nunome, cranes in flight around the mouth, the base with mark Nukon (no) Kuni Kyoto ju Komai sei. 9.5in. (25cm.) high. Late 19th century.
*Ceylon. A photo album covering Sir Robert Chalmers's period of Governorship of Ceylon, from his appointment in September 1913 to May 1915, approx. 180. gelatin silver and platinum photos, the majority chronicling civic functions attended by Sir Robert Chalmers, all mounted and the majority with detailed pencil captions with dates to mounts, some images with pen or pencil identification marks, approx. 29 x 22 cm and smaller, contemp. cloth, rubbed and soiled, hinges broken and covers detached, oblong folio, together with two unrelated photo. albums Sir Robert Chalmers (1858-1938) was appointed Governor of Ceylon on 26th September 1913 and returned to England in December 1915. These chronologically arranged photographs go up to the period just before the riots of May and June 1915, between native Buddhists and Muslim immigrants from India. (3)

(210. x 290. mm), two panoramas (both defective), and the remainder small photos. mounted, five to a page, many with printed captions at foot of album pages, much waterstaining and wear (mostly to the smaller format photographs), orig. maroon morocco gilt, worn and spine deficient, oblong folio. Sold with all faults, not subject to return An album recording the visit of the Prince of Wales (later King George V) on a hunting expedition during his 1905-1906 tour of India. The photographs include the Sipri Palace, Raipur Camp, Tiger Shooting at Singhpur and Kuleth, the shooting party with tigers and leopards, etc., Jai Bilas Palace, Gwalior, Durbar Hall, Jai Bilas Palace, Moti Mahal Palace, Gwalior Fort and Sas Bahu Temple.
